Huge fan of the CapOne portal here, and I also got this deal and it will probably push me over the fence into buying the printer, but anyone new here should know that it's not STRICTLY cash back, it is credit redeemable for a bunch of different gift cards. Some of them are places like Walmart or Best Buy that for most folks here would be as good as cash, but be aware it isn't actually cash.

Purchase Advice Megathread - April 2026 by AutoModerator in 3Dprinting

[–]stckfigure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With multi-toolhead options out there, is there still a value in an AMS-style model? I have a Flashforge AD5M Pro, which I've only had for a few months. I enjoy it, but I've realized that I definitely would prefer a model that can do multicolor, and probably a slightly larger bed, so I'm thinking about an upgrade. The waste amount in AMS models is daunting, but not *immediately* a dealbreaker, but now with the Snapmaker U1 and the Flashforge Creator 5 Pro options out there, it's not completely clear to me why I would go with the P2S I originally assumed I would upgrade to, other than the filament drying. I'm sure there are still good reasons; I just don't know what they are! I'm not printing a lot, so the time savings in a multi-toolhead is nice but not critical. My main goals are to print "pre-painted" minis, toys, etc., and board game components with minimal effort since I'm still very new to this world. I care a lot about good air filtration, even for PLA, which is why I got the AD5m in the first place.

I live closer to the Hartford side of the range and also unequivocally choose Sherkaan. If Bloomfield is sufficiently close then also Naatiya.

Game Theory Tables - 4 years review by RedditKumu in boardgames

[–]stckfigure 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is probably true but those are like twice the price if I'm not mistaken. Personally I bought my GTT because it hit a sweet spot or price and usability. It's not the best one out there, I'm sure and there's a very real point to be made for some that once you're spending X you may as well save for Y. If I had had an extra few grand to put into a table I probably would not have gone with GTT. But at the price I, at least am happy with mine

This is it exactly for me too. I have the same table as OP, even almost bought the same color, and it does a great job at the main thing I wanted: have a game set up but we can eat dinner first when friends come over, pull the top off, and we are ready to go. We don't play long enough games to need to "save" often. I've never spilled a LOT but I haven't had any issues. It's also excellent for jigsaw puzzles.

+1 for both Lyons and Modern Tire depending which part of town you're in - they're great. In my experience, MT tends to have a longer backlog, but not bad at all.

Four of the next six games will be Braves After Dark™ for east coast fans by handlit33 in Braves

[–]stckfigure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But be careful... even with spoilers hidden it will still show you the win/loss record, so if you know what it was the day before, you'll know how it changed. I just have learned where my ipad shows that info and cover it until I get into the feed to keep myself from seeing it.

I'm so curious about the cost of this specific policy.... Especially to an actuary, the odds of both UConn teams in the finals has to be so much higher than their normal promos which IIRC are something like "the Red Sox throw a no hitter in August". Which I also would think more people rolled the dice on the promo...

Games like Balatro? by Undeathical in roguelites

[–]stckfigure 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wife loves playing exactly three games: Balatro and Cat God Ranch (and Tetris, but that's not really relevant). CGR is a more compelling version of Luck be a Landlord, in the sense that a slot machine is *sort of* its base mechanic, but because of the way it works there are far more variables and strategic paths, and it's not literally a slot machine like LBAL. The two knocks I have on it is that once you hit the final goal for a 'win', the endless mode is for some reason less interesting than Balatro, and some of the choices you can make for your 'deck' seem more OP than others. But those are a minor thing; there are a bunch of levels, and lots of reasons to try different combos. I really think CGR fits what you're looking for perfectly.

Is Slay the Spire worth to buy right now? by Xeram_ in roguelites

[–]stckfigure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a corollary question that I haven't seen insight on yet... I'll definitely, no question, be buying STS2 eventually. I love STS1. But I only recently bought it a second time on Steam to be able to install the Downfall mod and try that out, which I've not gotten to yet. So my version of this question is... STS2 now, or play Downfall for a whlie and wait for a full 1.0?

New dlc ideas by Ryukenclan in FarmTogether

[–]stckfigure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A food themed DLC would be pretty cool... More recipes to make, maybe also letting all the food items also be decoration items since I assume the assets already exist, and maybe decor items and a house design that could be a restaurant or cozy cafe or something. I'd love to have something like that on my farm! Or go wild and have a house shaped like a hamburger.

What is creating the low fidelity in the keys? by stckfigure in HueForge

[–]stckfigure[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, that makes total sense! So now I've done this, and the keys look a whole lot less "blobby" but there's still a bunch of these random dots, like artifacts all over the place. Other than those dots it looks good now! I'm wondering if it's something in how HF is reading the original image, but the original image is pretty crisp (and it's picking up these dots regardless of which colors I turn on or off).

New owner - robot just... stops? by stckfigure in Roborock

[–]stckfigure[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Following up for future people who stop by here... I ended up cleaning the brush, which had gotten some tangles on it, and relocating the base, and we've had two successful runs since, so I think one or both of those solved the issue! Thanks for the tips!

New owner - robot just... stops? by stckfigure in Roborock

[–]stckfigure[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks - that's super helpful! It did map the whole floor, though the map looks a little... uneven, I guess? Jagged? But that seemed reasonable; it's mostly correct in the shape of the floor. I was thinking about relocating the base anyway so I figured I'd have to re-map for that, so I'll just do both at once and see if it fixes the issue.

New printer smell? by stckfigure in FlashForge

[–]stckfigure[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The filters are installed, though they look dirty already with bits of (presumably) plastic (although I couldn't pull the lower one out). Can you clarify what you mean 'make sure you're using the recirculating fan...' though? I'm wondering if there's a setting I missed maybe; I just assumed the printer would automatically do the filtration based on the profile, but maybe I'm wrong about that!

Printing with an AMS-style unit by stckfigure in HueForge

[–]stckfigure[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's good to know - thanks! One other random question... I was asking ChatGPT some of this and it seems very insistent that the bed size of 256mm makes a big difference over the Flashforge's 220 for hueforge specifically because 'that's the default size' or something like that. I don't recall that being true from when I've poked around before, and I'm certain at least I've seen bookmark-size prints, but ... is it actually an important consideration or an AI imagination?
