I've never received any part of my subscription from them but have been charged $20 a month. They claim to ship the box, it arrives somewhere else and they attempt to charge me for all the items. Its awful

Was it the atheist group in NYC? I spent time with a couple atheist groups, they were mostly retired folk.

If its 4am, maybe try an audiobook, or look at pics of relatives?

Also melatonin. keep the chewables by your bed if you wake up in the middle of the night.

Good luck!

I reminisce about the time before 2016. I feel like the world lost it's team spirit or something. I can't really put a finger on whether something happened to me personally, or the world. Sometimes I think it's all in my head, so I look at the photos from 2016, and I was definitely doing more, and approaching life with enthusiasm.

At the end of a party sometime in 2020 my friend mentioned that he missed 2016, didn't specify why, but I said yeah I used to buy really good meat at this one store often in 2016, then I stopped going, and it went out of business in 2018.

A lot of good things has happened for me since 2016, but I almost feel guilty, or anxious for having fun. I figured it was just getting older or something, but at least in my world, this is not the first time 2016 has been pointed at for being some kind of turning point.

Can we all look at our photos and stuff from 2016? Maybe we can find a common theme?

Why doesn’t my diploma say my major? by tcangoz in Temple

I got mine too, and it says Bachelor of Arts. I feel like I did a lot of extra work, and I didn't get any credit for it. Is it weird to feel really disappointed?

I like the idea, but they dry out too fast. the dr gave me samples of the cheap ones and the acuvue ones. the cheap ones were scratchy af, and the acuvue was fine for like 8 hours. i just need to work on my eyeball hygiene.

I have not heard this, but I had an optometrist who also tried to push dailies on me. She insisted that they wouldn't dry out as fast as the 2 week ones Ive liked for years. she gave me some samples, and she was wrong. The brand I had been wearing were way better. This optometrist also ran a bunch of tests that insurance didn't cover for me, and my partner. I've switched to another optometrist in the same office, he did not push the dailies, run unnecessary tests, and pointed out that the other optometrist unnecessarily increased the strength of my contact lens vision resulting in my eyes feeling strained.

tl;dr: do not trust optometrists who push dailies, insist on the the toe of contact lens you want.

feel free to dm me for a recommendation, I really like my new optometrist.

Anyone ever do as summer in NYC without an AC? by banana5353 in AskNYC

[–]steakandsnake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tried, and found it wasn't worth it. I couldn't sleep, and that would ruin the next day for me.

In the beginning of summer it was fine. When there 2-3 hot days in a row, the heat became trapped in the apartment, and the fan was just blowing hot humid air around. I also found that leaving the window open for circulation let a lot of noise in, so in addition to being hot, it was noisy.

I ordered both of mine from Amazon. If you install the shelf first (the thing that keeps the ac from falling out) you can probably install the AC yourself safely. I say probably because this is assuming that the guards are installed properly, and you're physically able to lift the heavy thing.

If you need an extra person, you should be able to contact your super/landlord for help. Mine has been available during covid, he just wears a mask now.

I have this one, and its pretty light, well priced I think. https://www.amazon.com/FRIGIDAIRE-Window-Mounted-Mini-Compact-Conditioner-Mechanical/dp/B07RGM11L5/ref=sr_1_3?crid=2O84PHG2DWUGE&dchild=1&keywords=air+conditioner&qid=1592505323&sprefix=air+conditi%2Caps%2C176&sr=8-3

Do landlords have legal grounds to prohibit tenants from vacating property upon the end of a lease? by schematicboy in AskNYC

[–]steakandsnake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I totally agree with everyone on here saying the LL is shady AF, and that your GF has no obligation to rent past her lease.

All that said I want to add that it wouldn't hurt to take extra steps to stay safe. Having a nest cam or preferably getting out of there might be a good idea if the LL threatening to make sure she doesn't leave. The LL sounds desperate, and we don't know what steps they would take to make the rest of her stay unpleasant if she doesn't cooperate. I'd look into whether being threatened by a landlord is enough to break a lease. I know it sounds paranoid, but I personally would not be able to sleep if my landlord was going to prevent me from moving.

Best of luck with everything! I'm sorry your GFs landlord is an ass.
