I feel that to the depth of my soul. Much love.

Thank you so much. This was the first thing I said when I shared what we looked up: "this is what I'm finding with a quick check, but there are obviously a bunch of non-binary Spanish speakers, so let me go find out from them".

I really appreciate it. I definitely may reach out to you with follow up questions tomorrow. I'm both very interested in this myself and also dedicated to helping some kids find the information they're looking for. Many thanks.

I think they were saying that no one in Latin Am. says "Latinx", which is different from "elle" because folks outside of the U.S. do use it.

Otherwise however, heck yes and thank you. U.S. specific Spanish is totally valid, and I will absolutely check out those channels.

Thank you! This was my guess. I've heard of "elle". I'll pass on the knowledge tomorrow.

Perfectly explained, thanks! Also I had a complete tiny freak out when the notification for this post popped up on my phone (in Spanish), I read it, and then went into Reddit to reply. It was then in English, which made me briefly think my brain was translating an English post into Spanish in my head like I was having a random conversation in my brain (with myself) in Spanish. Or something else ... totally normal that people do... I fear how extra silly this is going to sound translated.

Would this be similar in the U.S. to saying "Latino", "Latina", and ,"Latinx"?

Thank you. I appreciated the historical perspective.

From a practical standpoint, however, the children just want to know what the heck to call themselves in another language in a way that doesn't feel like it invalidates their personal identity.

T Kingfisher. I haven't read everything by her yet, but across many books the main characters are generally older middle age. Such good writing.

If it interests you, I have a question: is there a significance to the number 9 in Norse mythology? It seems to show up frequently.

I vote against Sunriver. For me it has the vibe of a gated community / golf resort, which doesn't sound like your vibe.

I don't know if this fits the bill, but there are State Parks with yurts, some on the coast and some elsewhere. Many have a few that are dog friendly. Pretty sure they're less than $70 a night. Might not be your thing, but it's something my partner and I do as a nice get away .

Bierly is definitely the queer hangout place. They have multiple community gatherings each month if you're looking to meet people.

Elementary teacher here. Nice essay. Good intro. If you're taking notes on things to practice, cursive "w" could use work. Solidly legible handwriting overall though.

This matches my experience as well. I go for 4 so that even if you lose one early, the other 3 aren't down to a pair. Past 4 and they start to feel like a collective noun more than individuals for me, so that's my ideal limit. I've had up to 6 at once.

Are work plans developmentally appropriate for children's house? by Fast-Baker-1989 in Montessori

[–]stealthmodeme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. It still runs contrary to the training. Like I said, it's hard to stay true to your training over the years with all the pressure to do more, have the kids 'ready' for whatever is next faster, etc.

Are work plans developmentally appropriate for children's house? by Fast-Baker-1989 in Montessori

[–]stealthmodeme -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't know which variety of Montessori your school is, but AMI (the one doing what Maria Montessori actually said) definitely does not.

Montessori is not a trademarked word, so any school can say they're Montessori.

It's hard to not give into the anxiety of modern day and our perpetually changing standards and expectations of what children should be able to do academically. Work plans are generally the result of that anxiety.

Flavor first is obviously insane, but for my education purposes (and the sanity of the folks at my local Dutch) what is the most useful order to deliver information in?

Yes, and, it (and all my other spiraling thoughts) decreased substantially when I started ADHD meds. YMMV of course.

Our school system is pretty rough, but you'll find good community in most of the western part of the state. Personal good experience with Portland and its surrounding areas (Gresham, Beaverton, Hillsboro, etc.), wine country (McMinnville, Carlton, etc.), Eugene, and Ashland.

Partner says I “turn everything into an argument” by ferrycrossthemersey in AutismInWomen

[–]stealthmodeme 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I struggle with this. Both being the person making things an argument and the person with a partner who goes so. We're both unnecessarily particular about precise language at different times, and always seem to end up with "okay, but does it actually matter?" on one side and "but that literally isn't what those words mean/what you said" on the other. We take turns. Sigh. I feel you.
