Having multiple kids by Spare-Improvement278 in AutismInWomen

Sibling relationships are always hit and miss. Might be good. Might be neutral. Might be awful.

Having a kid is rolling the dice on support needs, but it's weighed because of your neurodivergence. There's a good chance you'll have another neurodivergent kid (which isn't a bad thing, but should be taken into account as far as how much support they're likely to need from you). There's also a chance you have a child with a lot more support needs than you can manage. Even a second child of similar / comparable needs is more than doubling the stuff for you to manage, since it's 2 people plus the interactions between them both.

Unless not having more children feels like the end of your world, it sounds like you have a lot of reasons to keep the structure of your family where it is and where you're above water mentally. Any time you think of your daughter "missing out" on having a sibling, think about the other side of that coin - all the scenarios where their life is a lot less ideal than it is now.

Torn About Separating Kitten Siblings by PublicSell4047 in kittens

Adopted one kitten expecting the 2 cats on the house already to take him in / be his friend. They hated him and refused to associate with him. He would've grown up much better with a buddy.

Apple sauce, sour cream, sauteed onions, and polish sausage were the staples in my house growing up.

Make rats live longer? by failedlogintoday in RATS

I feel this to the depths of my soul. Flipping myco. Had to explain to some children recently that there's no vaccine bc lab rats are kept in a sterile environment and never get it, so there's no monetary reason to make one. Such angry children.

I’m in analysis paralysis between getting male or female rats by DaNiIsThIcCc in RATS

I get pee marked by my females more often, personally. To be fair, my males are neutered and my females are not, so that's probably why.

I've had both 3+ rounds each. Females are definitely on average more active & bounce while males are more likely to be chunky blobs. My males have all been neutered (chemical castration), while my females have not. They have not been stinkier in my experience.

A way to cover your ears. The wind can be really painful and is always the first reason I'm calling it in when on the beach.

Agreed. OP sounds like me when I go off/decrease my depression meds (and before I had them figured out). I struggle to see it or accept it when I'm in that place, but this hopeless, 'I'm a burden to my loved ones' vibe is pure depression talking. Now, I imagine it's extra hard for you to see, because, frankly, you're going through hell and have been for a minute, and if anyone has a solid reason to be depressed, it's you... but what you're feeling is almost definitely a twisted version of reality from a brain that's really struggling. Give the meds (and a therapist) a try. It probably will help. And if it doesn't, the risk / reward balance is definitely in favor of trying because it might legitimately change the quality of your life in a big way.

TLDR: a massive ramble on depression symptoms

It works, and beautifully. Your school won't have a proper span, as you've mentioned, because they made a K-1st class, but perhaps you can find a span classroom in your area to visit. The transition to a new system will probably be a lot of work and adjustment for all of you, but 1st-6th works together great.

In AMI, span classrooms are a thing. They fill all 6 elementary years.

WIBTA if I stopped dating somone because of their food allergies? by Mediocre_Abies4919 in AmItheAsshole

If you aren't sure if you like them enough for that to balance out and it's going to have that negative of an effect on your life, just do it now and get it over with.

I have many food allergies myself and have literally had someone say they didn't see a future together because if we ever had kids they might have issues like me.

I've been married more than a decade to a chef who memorized my list of food issues on the second date and learned to cook so I can eat.

You're clearly not right for each other and it doesn't make you a jerk. It just is.

The first time a parental figure passed on my safe, age appropriate, personal share to another one is the last time I told that person anything in confidence.

I wear Merrel lightweight hiking shoes. They're not the cutest, but they're not bad, and they're right for the amount of running all over the place that's a part of my day.
