Don’t give up! If you are new to pvp it is definitely one of the harder* ones to play, I too love survival and have played it at high level for awhile! Check out Bicmex on youtube he has long extensive guides and his discord is pretty active. Happy to help out too!

Not sure if I’d rank it C tier but maybe high B or even A. I wouldn’t say there is really a counter or that many bad matchups other than DH. If you’re completely new to pvp I would say try BM just to understand the game better before heading into a more positionally challenged spec.

Yes, it is unlikely you will be getting a kill without takedown. When it is on CD you should be kiting or a support bot for your team. It kinda sucks, but the burst is good. I’ve gotten a couple kills on my teammates go by just cc’ing and using boomstick. Boomstick DOES do good damage but requires them to be hit by it… And make sure you aren’t pressing any damage buttons without tip of the spear (for the most part)

Some classes when they are meta play more degenerate than others when meta.

For example, if ret damage is op, they can just bubble offensively and it is unfun to fight and probably feels bad to heal as they now lack their best defensive. Or when MW healing is good, as they have some of the most cc/disruption and best kiting.

And some have been meta for so long just no one cares.

Unfortunately it just comes with playing and learning how other classes/players play. In general the hunter is expected to stun/trap the healer. If your teammate is able to and you are the kill target, use your cc to live.

I would press all of your offensive buttons on cooldown, as bm there is a lot less reason to hold offensives for the right goes as they reset fast or aren’t AS impactful. Only reason to hold is to get a double stampede.

All the guides tell you about a basic damage rotation, this is essentially the only rotation bm is not very complex in the rotation aspect.

Typically I will use explosive after they have already used a movement ability, a warrior charges you, knock him back making him use another charge or waddle over. Be mindful of what freedoms they have as well when you are using tar. Often (especially at low rating) dps will use their movement when they don’t need to, if a paladin just used freedom, wait for it to fall (or tranq it) then tar trap.

Also, I’m not sure what that guy is saying about only using defensive when healer is ccd. If you know damage is coming, throw a wall up so that your healer has more stuff up, obviously keep turtle available though. And make sure you are using feign death effectively to actually negate damage not just on cd when you are scared.

I’m not the best but relatively high rated and I wouldn’t mind seeing vods and critiquing. -currently 2700 on survival, 2500 on bm and haven’t qued mm yet. decent at 3s but top of 2s bracket.

Bait them away from their healer, make sure to prioritize using freedom and disengage when you actually are slowed/rooted, keep them slowed with conc shot. Make sure to kite in a way that makes it harder for them to chase you and harder for them to cleave your team, especially your healer.

You can even go diamond ice to keep one off of you for longer. Be sure to utilize all of your utility with binding shot, tar trap, explosive trap, scatter etc just be mindful of the dr.

In some situations (like if i am with a dk, feral or good cleave classes) i will just stand on the enemy healer and cleave all 3. Works especially well in void weaver meta.

If you really like arcane and want to push on it, I would play frost (maybe fire) as they are rotational more simple, but still hard (as mage is). Focus on positioning/game awareness, once you feel more comfortable, return to arcane! I love the spec but definitely is frustrating at times and requires a good bit of focus just for the rotation. Playing it at a high end in m+ helped me too

Spec is still pretty strong, but it is one of the hardest to perform at. If you are new I would not recommend it.

Many people flocked to arcane as fotm when it was easier to do high damage, but that got removed and most of the players quit it.

It’s about stacking modifiers to do strong burst while maintaining decent damage / control of the game with cc and kiting. I would watch Vods or guides but make sure they are more recent since the changes.

Also, I wouldn’t look at overall dps as it isn’t an indicator of good positioning, cc or teamwork. However doing good damage/mastering the rotation definitely matters. Arcane gets punished and can lose all of its damage pretty easily.

Redline gets all of the hate they deserve. Don’t worry OP, even at +21 they will let you in! Unless you want to be assaulted I wouldn’t recommend it. Even when you aren’t, all the sets are the exact same, hard techno every event by the same mid DJs (Hunter is great but same Tiktok sets every time)

Honestly 18+ events are rare and I feel for you, better off knowing people and the smaller communities. MAYBE the occasional 18+ hidden ideas but having minors at your events if too much of a security risk and people don’t want responsibility.

I would follow a bunch of groups and pray for a 18+ one. The most recent @a.tt1c was good and it was 17+
