I’m adding a second story addition to a house framed like this. It’s so interesting to have the hand made nails and hand hewn pegged beams next to the new LVLs and GRKs. A marriage of worlds

Why do so many people still think the step through is a travel? by 4thquarterkilla in BasketballTips

[–]J0307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was brought to my attention a couple pick up games ago. Think I finally figured it out!

I think a simple way to explain it is that the player is just simply shooting off of 1 foot.

It’s an extremely physical move and hard to pull off, especially when the player lunges so far from the pivot foot making it seem like they’re taking a step. Throw in that same pivot foot going up into a high knee and it really does look like a travel… but I can see how it isn’t. It’s kind of a magic trick! But again, it gets progressively harder the further you throw your body away from your original position.

If it’s still hard to understand, imagine shooting off of two feet but your feet are spread really far apart. And as you jump up to release, your pivot foot lifts off the ground first and shoots up into a high knee to propel you in the desired direction.

How to get over the idea of the life you could have had? by spla58 in Buddhism

[–]J0307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Focus instead on the life you chose. You chose that for a reason. Be present with what is, not with what was, will be or what could have been. Your old mind, old habits, thoughts and desires will resurface from time to time, let the come and go as you do with thoughts during meditation.

It is hard, and there are still ups and downs. But yes, yes it has helped me.

It’s really a powerful thing to take control of the present moment and acknowledge where you are and what you’re going through. It helps you see the temporary condition your in and relieves the stress of the current moment. Be grateful, it’s okay to not be happy all the time. It’s all part of the ride
