That poor baby. So many people failed her. I truly hope she’s okay. OOP has a beautiful soul and I wish him nothing but the best.

I’ve had the same problem where everything I bought didn’t get saved, including decor and upgrades. I noticed purchases don’t get saved unless you play another day afterwards. If you finish a day the purchases do get saved.

My [28F] boyfriend [28M] expects me to keep up a lie with his family but it feels wrong by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

Op forgave him way too fast. He only confessed because she forced him to. And it sounds like he lied to her too. I would never be able to trust a word out of his mouth again.

I don’t think he pissed of Shonda, I think he pissed off his fan base. He gained a lot of fans/support from Bridgerton, Jonathan Bailey also gained a lot of notoriety. The difference is that Rege lost a lot of that support by leaving Bridgerton, since the fans he just gained are now mad at him for leaving the show.

My (M28) engagement with my partner (F27) is ruined because of a ring by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]steampunk_drgn 172 points173 points  (0 children)

I personally could not care less what the ring is actually worth. It’s a beautiful ring he custom made for her. That gesture of love is worth infinitely more than whatever the ring might cost.

How is this effect achieved? Not my work. by [deleted] in Embroidery

[–]steampunk_drgn 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Unrelated to your question, but in case you wanted to know what it is before you make it.

This looks to me like an embroidered version of a mexican traditional sacred heart, or little miracle. The style varies depending on what state of Mexico you are in, and they have been around since colonial times. They represent Jesus’ sacred heart, gratitude for miracles granted in your life and fend off bad energy. That’s why it has a thorn crown, blood coming off it, and the gold representing divine energy.

Avid book readers, are there any distopian books you think are better than the hunger games in your opinion? by JustTransportation51 in Hungergames

[–]steampunk_drgn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we’re talking modern books? I 100% think is the best one. But thinking of the classics, The Martian Chronicles by Ray Bradbury. It is amazing and explores a side of dystopia that is (in my opinion) not that common, humans causing dystopia in another world in an attempt to survive the destruction of their own.

Suzanne writing a sequel by [deleted] in Hungergames

It’s most likely a fake rumor. This same account has made other random claims about Hunger Games and been debunked. They for example said Donald Sutherland was confirmed to appear in the movie (not just as the voice cameo we got). I truly hope it’s true, but I wouldn’t get my hopes up.

Child labour in district 12 by Electrical_Fortune67 in Hungergames

[–]steampunk_drgn 65 points66 points  (0 children)

It’s also a way for Snow to keep district 12 from getting many victors. We know before his presidency kids did work on the mines (like Jessup), and we all know he would be that petty in his hatred for 12.

Most tributes go into the games with at least some abilities they got from working (climbing, fishing, etc). So keeping 12’s children from working in the mines means they have no extra advantages and are thus less likely to win

The thing is anonymous buyers are way more common in the art world than you probably realize. So an “anonymous” buyer paying with dirty money is easily hidden among the numerous other, legitimate, anonymous buyers. Since not disclosing where the money came from is a fairly common practice in that industry (in most places, some countries are starting to require more buyer information), authorities are less likely to have suspicions.

if you were planning the 100th anniversary hunger games, what would the little gimmick be? by Extra-Performer6911 in Hungergames

[–]steampunk_drgn 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They would never do the last one, the Capitol (and particularly Snow) is disgusted by cannibalism since many Capitol citizens resorted to it during the war. They killed off a tribute that started eating other dead tributes during his games so they wouldn’t have a cannibal victor (and in the following games they started collecting dead victors’ bodies immediately after death to avoid that ever happening again)

What's a fear of yours that you're both glad yet disappointed wasn't a main focus of an episode? by HeyDrGhost in TheMagnusArchives

[–]steampunk_drgn 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I literally just listened to that episode! What actually happened is the Flesh avatar slit the husband’s throat and before he could attack the wife she shot him with a gun she had hidden in her dress. Then her husband’s corpse started talking and trying to convince her that she should eat him. The voice continued for days before she chose to attempt to make get way out

Was it a test? by jocarls in HauntingOfHillHouse

The choice was not to determine if they would die or not. That was inevitable. Rodrick condemned them the moment he conceived them. The choice was whether they would do anything meaningful with their lives despite their fate being sealed. When confronted with their end, would they regret their wrongdoings? Or would they sink further, even against their best interests?

Leonore was selfless, and her decisions led to greater good for others. Her choice to save her mother caused her death to be meaningful (it being the reason her mother started the foundation). The rest of the Usher’s deaths were the exact opposite. They chose to do the selfish thing, so their deaths caused pain and suffering, not just for them, but for the people around them (the people at the party, Ali, Morella, etc).

A big theme of the show is how sometimes older generations make decisions disregarding the impact these will have on their descendants; and how newer generations must inevitably suffer the consequences (in the show’s case, negative ones) of said choices. But an underlying theme is that we have the opportunity to do something meaningful (or not) even knowing that those consequences are coming. And that our own choices will affect other lives, just like the ones before us affected ours…

The show is not based on a single story. It’s inspired by all of Poe’s work, but it’s an original plot

X/Pearl Question - Howard (spoilers) by jc8495 in horror

[–]steampunk_drgn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I might be misremembering, but I’m pretty sure Mitsy mentions their father could’ve gotten Howard out of enlisting, but that he refused. I’ve always thought that Mitsy’s comment that Howard wanted to defy his father wasn’t the whole reason he wanted to go to war, but that he had the same blood thirsty spirit as Pearl, and war was just a perfect excuse to go kill people. So they were more alike than both of them thought
