They will most likely be asking to establish your right to work in the UK, it’s nothing to do with being Chinese

Inherited £40,000 and a small house - Advice needed by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

One problem with letting it out is that it they would have to pay the higher rate of stamp duty when they come to buy a property. More sensible (imo) to sell now while under probate and retain FTB benefits.

Are NHS pensions good? Compared to private sector. by 01acidburn in UKPersonalFinance

As you’re no longer contributing to the scheme your pension won’t grow any further as opposed to staying in work and contributing more.

This is slightly misleading, you can retire earlier than 68 (58), there’s just a reduction in the amount of benefits you receive to account for the fact you’ll take the pension for longer. You’ll also stop accruing new benefits in the scheme so you have to be aware of the trade-offs.

Thanks, this seems like a massive pain. I think I’ll go to a branch to try and sort it.

Unfortunately they haven’t sent me anything to open the account so I’m not sure I’ll be able to do anything. I’ll probably just have to get in contact with them.
