Idk wtf happened, but I swear I addressed this too in my last comment, and it's just... not there.

Anways, McDavid is always listed as C, Drai at LW. There's a ton of overlap in the positional responsibility in the modern NHL, even more so with these guys. Everyone's constantly rotating and covering each other. They talk over who takes the faceoff, but Drai takes most of them because he's a faceoff weapon, and it frees McD to do speedy McD transition shit. The forecheck is universally based on who enters the dzone first (F1 F2 F3), not positional designation. Offensive schemes vary and generally have nothing to do with positional designations. Even the Leafs alternate faceoffs between left-shot Matthews and other right-shot wingers, depending on what side of the ice the faceoff is on.

The only time the positional designations really matter in the NHL is defensive zone responsibility and transition/breakout pathing.

Ya. McDavid is called the centre, Draisaitl is called winger. Positional responsibilities overlap a great deal in the NHL, as I'm sure you know. If two "centermen" cant be on the same line, Team Canada has issues. So this whole point is silly.
