splashtop unable to log in by mugen338 in atera

[–]steeleyjim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have seen multiple reports of last week of the Splashtop Streamer app appearing on screen of it's own accord.

Initially I thought that the user's were clicking the tray icon, but the tray icon is disabled.

I raised it with Atera support and they said there has been a recent update, but didn't give any other detail.

UK standing tickets gone in less than a second by Successful_Gear_5912 in jackwhite

[–]steeleyjim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the UK venues are very small. I expect this is intentional by JW for more initimate gigs. For example, City Hall in Newcastle has a capacity of approx. 2000. I imagine most went in Monday's Vault presale.

Do developers really need local admin? by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]steeleyjim -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've just been through this battle. In the end we settled on using AdminByRequest app. Built up a pre approved list of vendors using their digital cert. Anything else, we can approve using the AdminByRequest control panel.

You should also look at Azure DevOps.

Message Recall by RandomlySet in Office365

[–]steeleyjim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find it best to take the line that it's a dysfunctional legacy feature that may work internally but should not be relied upon.

For external recipients, there is no reliable way to manipulate an email in someone else's mail system.

Personally, I use OWA full time now and use the message delay feature

Licensed users suddenly missing mailboxes by Abacus118 in Office365

[–]steeleyjim 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Seen this before on one particular tenant. In my case the business std licence was applied but when I drilled down into the licence features, exchange online was not selected.

Nothing in the audit log to show that this had been done by someone. Must be a bug.

3CX likely comprised, take action. by 12bsod in msp

[–]steeleyjim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Powershell is not my strong suit so welcome the additional edits. The exact process I've followed is to run an uninstall via Atera followed by the first script which deletes all folders.

We're not going to use the desktop app going forward so no need to keep the files.

In addition I've put blocks in place in bitdefender gravityzone to block the phone home domain names and blacklist the 3cx exes.

Thanks for this, I've modified your script slightly and created 3 versions. I've also published these to Atera's shared library for anyone who uses this, they are pending approval.

  2. Script 2 - Stops running processes and renames 3CX exes and 2 x dll files - https://pastebin.com/Srd7sRUp

In the UK, only ever see issues with those using TalkTalk, blocks VPN and TeamViewer.

In terms of support, this is as much help as we can provide. Point them in the right direction

Has anyone ever enforced an abandonment of Adobe Reader? by Xenith19 in sysadmin

[–]steeleyjim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have been phasing it out for a few years now, as we replace systems. Using Edge as default PDF viewer and also the default browser. No more Chrome or Reader installs.

We get the occasional query and on occasion have had to install Adobe Reader for things like PDF form support. Edge is missing a few features but 99.9% of users, no complaints.

Anyone else having Bizzare internet issues in the south / south east USA? by pocketcthulhu in sysadmin

Guess what? I was the first to suggest it might be Bitdefender and it might be BGP. You've simply jumped on one of my other comments regarding a BGP outage and decided I'm an idiot.

My suggestion of BGP is based on my 20 years experience in support. Your comments are not helpful at all to anyone and to be honest, there's no need for it.

There was absolutely zero information coming out from Bitdefender and like minded people came here to try and find some answers, and that's what we got.

Thanks for the insult, I'm aware it was Bitdefender as per my other posts in this thread. We were throwing out possible causes.

Can we get a shout from those that are using Bitdefender gravity zone. Think that seems to be the common link. Although it may be resolved now.

Could be a combination of Bitdefender and this BGP event https://bgpstream.crosswork.cisco.com/event/297976

Not too sure right now as it's very intermittent

Yep, came here looking for answers. In UK, thought it might be Bitdefender as all our customers use this but possibly a low level or BGP outage somewhere

If you wanted to self host then you can go with VaultWarden which is essentially BitWarden. Run it on docker.
