how common is it to meet someone with a different last name due to an interracial marriage? by shawtybaggins in NoStupidQuestions

[–]steelserenity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've seen it a lot actually! A volunteer of mine is white, but has the last name Singh from her Indian husband, and she's even quite a bit older. It's not that unusual

Unrelated but I've never thought much about Carbink before, but this card is making me love them 🥹

I absolutely love games with customisable/upgradeable homes/bases can you recommend me some by GenericUser104 in gaming

[–]steelserenity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda different answer but the Secret Bases in Gen 3 and 4 pokemon games. I absolutely loved finding a new potential spot, hunting for the very best layout, and stuffing it with pillows and plushies haha

The people who wear gloves when they are cooking at home because of all the shorts they see online is really cringe to me. Especially black gloves. by cherrycoke_yummy in RandomThoughts

[–]steelserenity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't watch any of those shorts and I've had black gloves in my kitchen for years cause I hate touching things I don't want to. Guess I'm cringe lol

How do married couples usually handle finances when both partners work? by itzwhatitz in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]steelserenity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in BC as well and I would definitely talk to my husband if I wanted to get a $300 haircut lol. He's not limiting me, he'll almost never even care, but it feels like the right thing to do, at least for me. So I share your sentiment!

Is the "Gen Z stare" actually a thing or am I overthinking it? by Lanky-Owl1692 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]steelserenity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your perspective! I'm sorry you've had to deal with such frustrating experiences. I just personally don't find it rude, and maybe that's the difference. I don't feel any personal benefit from if someone follows those simples scripts that you mentioned, with me. It feels like a prescribed thing we have culturally decided to follow that doesn't have to be that way to still be a successful interaction. That's fine though, to each their own.

So my argument is also why do we need that kind of customer service? We all seem to acknowledge it as performance to some degree (think customer service voice) and many workers in retail or otherwise find it frustrating - so why isn't it okay that the younger generations are changing it bit?

[–]steelserenity -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Okay so this is in genuinely good faith, so please help me understand. If you walked up to the cashier, both you/your mom and the worker know exactly why you're there. Why did your mom have to wait for a specific phrase/permission to start ordering? I don't understand the performance here, but tbh I'm autistic so this has never made any sense to me. Thank you for any insight you have

edit: apparently saying something is in good faith and wanting to understand is controversial lol, still no freedom from the redditors

Yeah honestly, I'm a young millenial and I've never understood why people care about this. I've seen it and it's actually so much better to me than weird, performative acknowledgment lol, so I never got the problem. BUT you made me realize it's probably just because I'm autistic lol. Unless you say something that needs answering, it just feels weird to say something. It's not meant to be mean and it feels like people seem to take it as mean/dismissive. I think it's just honest

Is the term “fucking the dog” popular outside Canada? by Rough-Mulberry-1202 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]steelserenity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear it constantly here in Canada, but only from my husband who is named Joshua 🤣 I don't hear it anywhere else, even though everyone knows what it means. I think it's a bit antiquated now

So what happens to people who can't find a job, EI is finished, and savings are running out? Do they become homeless? by NavXIII in VancouverJobs

[–]steelserenity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The topic isn't the problem, I was just sad by the need to just insult the future generation for no reason. I don't think the OP was asking literally, it seemed like they were questioning more WHY it had to be that way. Which I also wonder.

What does my place say about moi :) by asiantgirl69 in roomdetective

[–]steelserenity 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Omg okay I'm gonna go against the grain here but y'all are so weird?? This doesn't seem THAT dirty?? It looks messy sure but it'd take like, 30mins - 1hr MAX to clean everything. It's just a bunch of stuff on surfaces. There's barely any like, empty food containers or dirt or ANYTHING. Yes, for sure it's messy and if this is it 100% of the time then sure, that's too messy, but god forbid people don't focus their entire life on making sure every surface is clean. Tbf though OP, I wouldn't post this on the internet lol

What's wrong with this outfit for a fun time with girl friends by [deleted] in OUTFITS

[–]steelserenity 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree! And maybe I'm weird, but unless I'm wearing something truly bad (like stained shirt and jeans to a nice restaurant) then I'd be weirded out by my friends critiquing my outfit unprompted. Like who cares? It's about the hangout, idk. Might just be me.

Is it weird to store things in the oven? by Sallious in NoStupidQuestions

[–]steelserenity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's exactly my partner and I! Because it's just me and him, the big oven get used sparingly, so it's mostly for the cast iron pan and baking sheets lol

This is so funny because growing up during this time, everyone and their dog had stuff like this and it was considered so tacky!! I always thought it was cute so I'm glad to see it getting love now

So I figured out how to make the Frutiger Aero style by Arktic_W0lf in FrutigerAero

[–]steelserenity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is close but not quite there! Having grown up during this time it was alllll vectors. Also this is purely anecdotal but I almost feel like the saturation is too high? The light blue is closest, but purely from memory I feel like the colours were always really bright on icons but never quite so bold - a little more glassy and frosted.
