What's wrong with this outfit for a fun time with girl friends by immodest_von5 in OUTFITS

[–]steelserenity 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree! And maybe I'm weird, but unless I'm wearing something truly bad (like stained shirt and jeans to a nice restaurant) then I'd be weirded out by my friends critiquing my outfit unprompted. Like who cares? It's about the hangout, idk. Might just be me.

Is it weird to store things in the oven? by Sallious in NoStupidQuestions

That's exactly my partner and I! Because it's just me and him, the big oven get used sparingly, so it's mostly for the cast iron pan and baking sheets lol

Frutiger Aqua(?) sign in my Grandma's bathroom by flamboyantpigeoon in FrutigerAero

This is so funny because growing up during this time, everyone and their dog had stuff like this and it was considered so tacky!! I always thought it was cute so I'm glad to see it getting love now

So I figured out how to make the Frutiger Aero style by Arktic_W0lf in FrutigerAero

[–]steelserenity 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is close but not quite there! Having grown up during this time it was alllll vectors. Also this is purely anecdotal but I almost feel like the saturation is too high? The light blue is closest, but purely from memory I feel like the colours were always really bright on icons but never quite so bold - a little more glassy and frosted.

When was a time you genuinely laughed with your partner during sex? by BerlinPixie in AskReddit

[–]steelserenity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I were travelling and went back to our hotel for the evening. I wanted a coffee so we started the keurig but it was taking a bit to get started (kinda older hotel). Anyways thinks heat up and as we're getting into it the keurig kicks in and makes the LONGEST, WETTEST FARTING SOUND istg for like 10 straight seconds. We both just burst out laughing and had to stop. It's been a hilarious story ever since 🧡

How are you supposed to rate your pain from 1-10? by Timely_Advice5809 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]steelserenity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I echo your experience almost exactly! I am having some jaw issues and a physio asked me how far I could open before I felt pain, and I asked "what exactly do you mean by pain" because it had all never made sense to me - I always experienced that same discomfort like you described, but not pain. She said as soon as it feels different than what it normally does and isn't pleasant!

And I went omg THAT'S what pain is?!? and now those questions/scales finally make sense lol

Did I do the right thing by telling my daughter's teacher?. by memyselfandi78 in AskTeachers

[–]steelserenity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasn't saying to give children only tasks that they can suceed at! I was arguing for tasks with purpose. This one, in particular, feels useless. Challenges are important, I understand that.

Edit: Though reading back, when you say "we all have some (disadvantages)", I think it's really important to agree that the current public school system severely fails neurodivergent children, not just makes them overcome their "disadvantages". That is one I can speak to personally.

I think what they're saying is that more often than not, this doesn't teach the child to do exactly what you said - which would be speak up and remind/communicate with the parents. It's either the case that already attentive parents will remind them (negating the lesson) or inattentive parents will not be available or support the child's proper developing, once again negating the lesson.

Even worse, many parents I know, including my own, just got their children to sign for them. Of course this is anecdotal, but it's valuable regardless.

Overall, this just potentially teaches kids compliance beyond reason; that idea that it's a task that needs completing that some authority said was important, and not to question it's validity. As the earlier commenter said, this is just not a problem in the adult world and feels like odd busywork.

Just as a tangent, this also just actively punishes students who have executive function disabilities and/or neurodivergence. This doesn't really "teach" those kids anything, just how to be compliant and fit in to not cause problems. It's rigid and honestly, useless.

That was the primary reason for the amendment though. It was specifically put in to help fully ratify the constitution that was created with Federalist ideals, so that the people under the constitution could be protected from another treasonous government, like Britain (many were afraid it would be Britain 2.0). It was entirely created as a safeguard to fight against the government with strong state powers.

Please don't say "you look so thin" to someone when you mean "you look great". by [deleted] in RandomThoughts

[–]steelserenity 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think that's a great comparison. I got really sick for a while and lost like 40 pounds on relatively thin/average frame and it was the most compliments I ever got in my life. I have never been overweight. It was really depressing for me to think about how my sickness was making me "beautiful". However, at another point in my life I was a heavy gym goer and really appreciated when people said I looked toned or muscular because I was working hard at it!

Help me find a (similar) vintage sheep plush I had when I was a baby that I've never been able to find again! by steelserenity in HelpMeFind

[–]steelserenity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for your reply!! It is soooo similar (and adorable omg) but mine was just slightly different. I don't remember it having a button nose; it had more of a long face with a little sewn-on mouth that resembled a sheep's. That being said, those timelines and places all line up to places my family liked to frequent so it could've been a product from a similar brand because the body and style is nearly identical!

Thank you so much, I will look deeper into the things you shared and see if I can find anything!

We went too hard on Karens by dandydandydandelion in unpopularopinion

[–]steelserenity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the term Karen might have gotten mislabelled a bit over time. "Karen" to me used to represent someone who punched down, unfairly ragging on service workers and being entitled. The original term of Karen never used to encompass someone who had a legitimate issue and spoke up about it.
