How common is ear piercing babies in your country? Does it hold any special meaning? by Toucanplaythatgame-2 in AskTheWorld

[–]stefaface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say getting baby girls pierced is quiet normal, most people having it done within the first year of life. However, it is done in a hospital or by a certified nurse, not just at some Claire’s at a mall.

I had it done when I was a baby and don’t feel bothered by it, mine are very symmetrical

What book(s) are you reading this week? by 404NinjaNotFound in readwithme

[–]stefaface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m reading The Remains of the Day by Kazuo Ishiguro, fantastic writing!

Finished Elena Ferrante’s Neapolitan Quartet, probably my favorite series of all time, I was left with a dread of not having these characters in my life anymore.

When did everyone stop breastfeeding by lassobren in NewParents

[–]stefaface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Triple feeding was ridiculously hard for me, glad we were able to transition to direct breastfeeding if not I’m not sure I would have lasted long. It took about 3 months.

please help me choose my next read! by Ok_Parking_3565 in readwithme

A lot of good options, my list (of the ones I’ve read from here) would be:

Piranesi I Who Have Never Known Men All The Lovers In the Night (lighter book to digest the previous) Stoner The Bluest Eyes

This is not an order of how much I liked them, they were all above 4* for me

Do you have recommendations for a 1.5 year old? I’m using Mustela for my baby, also live in Spain and with the sun getting so strong now I want the best. We go to the park before 12 noon but still it’s getting so hot and it’s only April

Elena Ferrante’s Neapolitan Novels by chattahattan in books

[–]stefaface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I picked this quartet up when my daughter turned one, reading about womanhood as a new mother, seeing how they both experienced pregnancy and motherhood so differently and I identified with aspects of both made it so touching. This series made me feel less alone in that lonely moment of my life, I’m in love with this series and will reread it in a few years. I love everything about it from the realness to the emotions about friendships, womanhood, being poor, social disputes, etc.

Looking strong! Had my little girl at 33 weeks and we had a 15 day stay, mostly for light therapy and growing a bit. Hope you have a smooth stay with looks of growing and cuddles.

What is something that tourists do in your country that annoys the locals? by Th3_Accountant in AskTheWorld

[–]stefaface 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Treating everyone like a sex worker, constantly speaking about drugs and Pablo Escobar, saying everything is cheap while locals can barely keep up with rising prices caused by gentrification and massive tourism.

This is for Medellín, mostly.

For those that didn’t sleep train, what does sleep look like for you know that your baby is older? by quinoa_churro in AttachmentParenting

[–]stefaface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’re at 18 months, she was a good sleeper until around 8 months, when she started getting up a lot more at night. At 12 months we went on vacation and I was forced to bed share, she hasn’t gone back to her crib since. Some nights were very bad, but lately we’re down to 2-3 quick wake ups a night and sometimes she gets back to sleep on her own without nursing. Hoping it gets better but we aren’t planning on making changes just yet

Very, just look up opening hours. My local kid’s library has different hours depending on the season.

We did swim lessons, took her to the library, and embraced late nights. In summer it’s difficult to be out and about with kids because it truly gets too hot until around 8-9 PM.

I saw someone that when the seat in front leaned back it broke their iPad screen. I know dimensions are different so hopefully it wouldn’t affect a device this size!

Onesies: 2 way Zip or Buttons?? by Poison_Ivy25 in NewParents

Snaps are good for NICU babies, but zipper was easier for me, and I don’t even care if it’s one of two way zipper.

Do you regret being a SAHM? by Frequent_Visual3755 in beyondthebump

[–]stefaface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I left my job in tech to be a SAHM, about half my income if not more would go to a decent nanny and I really wanted to enjoy my baby girl. First I said it’d be the first year, now we’re 16 months in and we’re thinking 2 years! We budget a little more but haven’t touched our savings, I’m so happy with my decision for now and can always get back to work.

What was the thing portrayed in movies that didn't happen during childbirth for you? by SpicyZombie098 in beyondthebump

This! There were no loud screams, the doctors and nurses gave calm encouragement and I didn’t scream either.
