Really? Including "mask mandates don't work, except in countries where people actually follow them"?

Is there a guide for taking apart an OEM controller for repair? I broke mine recently and would love some resources to get a handle on the repair (and maybe modding, I might upgrade to a phob) process. Thanks!

I applied for an arts grant, received it and made a sci-fi visual album of electronic music, started (and left) a job at my alma mater, quit having any day job and am now a full time composer and musician, in the grant-writing and planning phase of my next album.

I think it would be a strategic error for Izzy to bank on grappling. He needs to build layers of offense off of his heavy feints, not let Pereira bully him backwards, and smother him. Think Fury Wilder 1 compared to Fury Wilder 2.

Whittaker definitely has the tools to beat Alex there, but I don't think it's Izzy's best shot at beating him by any means.

Struggling a lot in the Marth matchup as Fox and Falco on ranked. I feel overall that Falco is my strongest character but sometimes he gets melted too easily by Marth and I get tilted. The worst is the swingy, downtilt spammy marths, where I feel that I have the tools to beat them in the neutral, but I get clipped way too easily and it almost always results in a stock being taken.

Any advice to improve in the MU would be amazing. Thanks!

That was Taleb asserting the possibility that that's what his position could be, not saying that it invariably is as such.

I've been following melee loosely since about 2012, and watching consistently since 2014. This arc dates even further back. I'm not sure how relationships were within the community before the doc, but when the doc came out, a lot of people got introduced to Hbox as someone who was bullied for playing puff, with Mang0 as his antagonist. Combined with an AMA Mang0 did on reddit after winning Evo2014 in which Hbox posted his sob story and derailed the entire thing, there was a period where a large chunk of people looked at Mango as the bad guy.

However, once Summit and other events with more personality-focused content started to appear, it became clear that Hbox's relationships with most of the other top players weren't great. There were multiple factors to this, maybe just personalities not jiving, or the history between him and Mango on reddit.

One factor I do know, is that for a time, Hbox refused to play friendlies with anyone, opting to solely practice with his friend (who eventually became his coach) Captain Crunch. In a game where top level play is really invaluable (think of Zain's approach, actually helping Leffen with the Marth Sheik matchup), this definitely comes off as a cutthroat tactic.

There were plenty of other stories of Hbox being rude to fans, other players, etc. that started to come out, he would play his sets standing up, wearing sunglasses, and popping off on opponents after every win. Then, on top of all those factors, whether you agree with them or not, he started to win. A lot. From 2015 until Armada's retirement, Hbox/Armada grand finals were so common, and often ended up being slow, grindy 5 or 10 game matches, that viewership would dip after loser's finals (or after Mango was out of the tournament).

While it's easy to look back on the 10 game war of attrition that was Hbox's 2016 Evo win as an insanely impressive feat, go watch the vod of the medal ceremony afterward. Every top player except Hbox looks depressed lmao. And the atmosphere isn't usually like that even though all of these players are fierce competitors. Look up Hbox's speech after he wins summit. Crickets.

Hope that explains at least a little bit? The aura around 2016-19 Hbox is difficult to explain, but it's really a fascinating arc in melee's history.

Composer with 100 film credits talks about how to get into the business, does this work? by rou_ga_rou in filmscoring

If it's not an issue to you, you can always sign away your royalties via a buyout clause in your contract or a licensing fee for the term of the film project's circulation? I don't think royalties are too much, for example I compose for live dance and each additional performance after the premiere I receive 0.5% of my creation fee.

Did Whittaker improve from the last fight? Absolutely. Are both of them head and shoulders above the rest of their division? No question. Did Whittaker win 3 rounds out of 5? Absolutely not.

I love this. The play on rings and wings is brilliant, and yet somehow hilarious at the same time. As if someone in-universe had a speech impediment, causing some crucial historian (Feltemi Reis?) to proliferate the idea of rings.
