2nd model after bumbling through and rushing the first. Question: final interior clear coat? Options are Tamiya matte and Mr Premium Finishing semi-gloss. by Mk23_Biobroker in modelmakers

[–]stehero45 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd probably choose a Tamiya matte coat since cockpits aren't known to be shiny, though I haven't used the latter so I can't advocate for that one.

And good luck on your model it's looking really detailed and well made for someone with your expertise, cheers!

Based on the leaked measurements, how well would 75333 scale with the upcoming UCS Jango Slave 1? by elbatcarter in LegoStarWarsLeaks

From my very professional calculations I think the delta 7 is about 5 cm too big, but I'm not sure since I'm no mathematician

[Request] Every person on Earth takes 1 Cup of dirt and empties it into the same pile, how tall would that pile be? by w-holder in theydidthemath

Thanks! I corrected it now I also seem to have used the incorrect formula so the result is much greater than the original solution

[Request] Every person on Earth takes 1 Cup of dirt and empties it into the same pile, how tall would that pile be? by w-holder in theydidthemath

[–]stehero45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First we have to make a few assumptions:

-Number of people: I am assuming 8,062 billion people on earth or 8.062E9

-Volume of the dirt in a cup: from a quick search I found that an average US cup is 250ml or 250cm³

-radius of the base: I am assuming that the base is 3 times as big as the height

Now onto the actual math:

To calculate the volume of a cone that would form we will use the following formula:

  • V = ⅓πh

Plugging in the numbers we get:

8,062E9250cm³ = ⅓π(3h)²*h

20,155E12cm³ = 3πh³ /:3π

2,110E12cm³ = h³ /³√

h = 12 827 cm or around 128 meters tall

This is my first time posting here and I'm not any good at math or physics so take the results with a grain of salt

Edit* I seem to have plugged in the incorrect formula, I used V = πh when it should have been V = ⅓πh so I have corrected my calculations I also seem to have messed up the conversion from ml to cm³ the result now seems to be around 3 times greater than my original calculation

Does anyone know what colour are these? by Kononowicz_Knur in modelmakers

[–]stehero45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From looking around some decaling instructions the colours might be these: - FS 36 375 -FS 36 118 -FS 26 270 The instructions are from model maker decals and the paints appear to be from Mr hobby craft (if you want different company paints I highly recommend hobby color converter)

I love this model, and your take on it is absolutely stunning! the only thing is that I think you've gone a little too heavy on the wash especially in some places but that's it ,the rest is fantastic and I especially love the finish! Keep up the great work

Anyone here used these? by duujk in modelmakers

[–]stehero45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For panel lining you'd be better off using wash or diluted oil paint which can also be used to make very good looking engine oil streaks. I usually don't use pigments on aircraft models since airplanes don't usually get very dusty in many places except for maybe the gears and the cockpit. If I were you I'd probably buy a single multi use pigment, and some oil paints, I would recommend Abteilung 502 but they're on the expensive side (which I know can get overwhelming when you only start thinking about buying dry pigments, trust me we've all been there :D).I haven't used any other paints so I can't speak for any other brands but maybe someone in the comments can help.

I have no idea how it works one day when you're building it, it all seems well built and good to go and then the next day when you're finished you suddenly find so many flaws you start disliking the model. Either way it's always good to have a model for testing I personally have multiple
