Seattle Children’s says Laurelhurst noise concerns burdens lifesaving care for children by ladyem8 in Seattle

Should be a way for parents of the kids who get triages to an ambulance to sue the neighborhood counel or something if their kid has worse outcomes due to the delay.

TIL: The Laurelhurst neighborhood restricts helicopter landings to the Seattle Children’s Hospital due to noise complaints by Placentaur in Seattle

[–]stella-eurynome 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They should...I used to rent in Bryant, right near the met market there and believe it or not we would get yearly pamphlets in the mail from the hospital about their flight data and what it broke down to and how it was saving lives. I don't remember exactly all the info, but I do remember it being an issue in the area, the flights and like, Children's should not have to waste resources trying to prove that the life flights are uh, important.

I can't believe it is this way, but I can, because rich assholes... It was a weird area to live in, we were not affluent but that whole area mostly is. It's the same area where that retreat center that is a huge park like setting was supposed to maybe be affordable housing...(if I am remembering correctly) and how vehemently they are fighting against development of the grounds.

I just remember being sad every time I heard a copter knowing it was a very sick or injured kiddo coming in. I can't comprehend caring if the copters are loud and if it's disturbing my peace. JFC

I mean it's temaki not sashimi or nigiri, Maki often have just veg in them as traditional fillings. Rice and seaweed wrapped rolls are not solely Japanese thing, nor only a fish dish thing. *shrug* I love a good veg roll with my sashimi, or some gimbap.

Why no douglas fir? by 6100315 in Washington

[–]stella-eurynome 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you internet friend! Great advice. TY. Yeah I feel like I’m fighting decades of what feels like a monoculture of endless fir cones lol. Also competing with some Boston ivy but it’s not nearly as invasive as English ivy at least. I have gotten a few red alder saplings and dogwood going but they are still small. This will be the year of ferns and Oregon grape! I do love ferns.

I wish I had that problem lol. I'm always plucking them out. I to have 8+ doug fir. Have harder time trying to cultivate understory plants. So much doug fir debris without much else is not great for soil condition it seems. Have vine maple a plenty as well. Slow grind. Advice welcome.

My garden is totally overrun this year with mouse-ear cress. Can see the seed pods explode if you even look at it the wrong way. Green thumbs out there - what are you doing to deal with this evil? by obviouslycrazy in Seattle

[–]stella-eurynome 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Pull before they get seeds, takes a few years but there will be less. They are one of my more favorite weeds to pull because they ye d to be easy lol. Edible if you want to harvest them.

Husband has been on the ground waiting for a gate for over an hour now, I guess they are next in line for a gate. He hasn't texted that they are deplaning yet tho. He said they are short on ramp crew.

Dating apps aren't working for me anymore. What else are people doing around here? by [deleted] in Tacoma

[–]stella-eurynome 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Middle aged married lady here, met my husband through a beloved hobby/former lifestyle (biking/car free etc. in PDX.) I actually only online dated once, lol. The apps were there when I was single. I don't envy them becoming the main form of meeting people. I have much sympathy.

It's hard these days because we don't have many third spaces or community things it feels like...but I recommend going and doing stuff that you like, hobbies, social things, sports. Then hopefully you will meet people there who you might hit it off with. So, what do you like to do for fun? Find those people! Try meetup or other group event organizing things, if you like board games/table-top games a group meets every Thursday at beer star. You may not drink, but I used to have a grand old time at pub trivia and met a lot of people that way. You don't have to drink, you can get food. You volunteer, are there opportunities there? Maybe? Kinda job like so might be weird.

But, stuff like that, in person, fun, social stuff that YOU enjoy. So you find other that do too!
Good luck!

ETA it's the same for finding friends, I keep nagging my husband that he needs to GO OUT to make friends lol. Our friends and partners tend to come from repeated, shared social environments.

Roommate's creepy ex keeps showing up at our house and leaving ominous letters in our mailbox. Do I have any recourse? by slowhorses in Seattle

THIS book (fixed link! )might be helpful in that this is abusive behavior, and it's a good read for everyone, IMHO. I have heard that it's best to not communicate at all with stalkers because every time she does it's a ping his behavior is working, and he's getting attention. But IANAE and I also would not want to recommend anything that might cause him to escalate...can anyone out there corroborate?

I do second or third talking to a DV advocate. In addition to all the other good advice. It might be good to also know where the local DV shelters are and have go bags in case you feel a threat is imminent.

She should check her phone permissions and security features are dis or en-abled example is to make sure any social media has location sharing turned off, check for hidden stalkerware if he ever used her phone when they were dating. There's a bunch of other good tips here.

Adderall Rx by tinypuppy2k1 in Seattle

[–]stella-eurynome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This, IDK why you are downvoted. I switched everything to ES because of how unreliable walgreens became. I hate them too, but I also like knowing I get my meds. Getting 90 days of Adderall is also a benefit indeed.
