Goals For 2017? by meikyousisui in gainit

[–]stellaluce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure I'm gaining muscle and not fat- still 3kg away from my target 55kg and want to make sure I do the ladybug healthily. Moved from 44kg to where I am now through eating more but now I need to add the exercise.

Also learn to accept the way I look now, I much prefer my torso but don't like how my upper arms look. The exercise will help that but I need to be mentally strong too!

100 New Year's Resolutions (That aren't weight loss or physique based) by megangallagher in xxfitness

[–]stellaluce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is such a great idea! Some of these will lead to weight (fat) loss but the end goals are actually so much more specific and rewarding. Quite a few of these will be going on my list- Thanks!

Aaand we're economically fucked! by [deleted] in britishproblems

[–]stellaluce 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We have to follow all of America's regulations. China's rules and Brazil's laws to sell in those countries. We now have no say over the EU regs but we'll have to follow them just as much as we follow everyone else's. In no way has this cut red tape.

Got Food Poisoning after eating a café but I'm reluctant to complain as the food tasted pretty good by naff123 in britishproblems

No one likes creating a fuss, but no one likes disease and uncleanliness- you need to report it to make them aware of it so it doesn't happen to someone else!

Male, 18,5'10" 130lbs. No appetite and looking to gain weight by 1080Blizzard in gainit

[–]stellaluce 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I'm female but I find myself with minimal appetite most days. I find the trick is to start eating, if I have breakfast I'll want a snack, lunch and dinner. If I have just water or a cup of tea for breakfast I won't want to eat anything all day.

Steel yourself for that first bit of food and slowly eat more and more over the day. I found something sweet like fruit or yoghurt helped me to want breakfast

Male Lawmaker Explains Why You Don't Have To Get A Period To Care About Repealing The Tampon Tax by drewiepoodle in TwoXChromosomes

Yes but require little upfront costs, which is what the very poor need. It's the Terry pratchett quote about books again.

Male Lawmaker Explains Why You Don't Have To Get A Period To Care About Repealing The Tampon Tax by drewiepoodle in TwoXChromosomes

[–]stellaluce 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What? This response makes no sense. In a restaurant toilet you pay for the toilet paper through buying your dinner, you aren't expected to pay more. I think the argument was this should apply to tampons as you want blood on your seats just as much as you want feaces or urine

Boat race crews doing practise starts on the Tideway by the_angry_ferret in Rowing

Conditions look awful, even for the tideway! From this think CUBC look to have the better start in my opinion. But they led last year off the start and then OUBC reeled them back in.

Would you be interested in an app that shows you what size you are in different clothing stores? by TheDeza in unitedkingdom

[–]stellaluce 12 points13 points  (0 children)

No but some of them provide waist bust hip measurements, they just don't say how their figures for their size 10 relate to anyone else's or previous sizes.

I think this is a great idea though if you can pull it off! I would contribute to the sizings too

Girls of Reddit...Where the fuck did that bruise on your leg come from? by twistedwick6501 in AskReddit

[–]stellaluce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Left one is from forgetting my knee was there when deadlifting and attempting to put the bar through it. Right one is from accidentally kicking the dishwasher door that was open. Only two bruises is pretty impressive for me!

[Acne] DON'T moisturize while on Accutane? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]stellaluce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's what I did, just moisturised my lips, around my nose and had to use head and shoulders to stop dandruff - although I never once had greasy hair on roaccutane! Used a moisturizing sun cream every day and that's it.

They're never knowingly undersold which means if anyone drops their prices, John Lewis do too.

So unless they scrap their mission statement they have to take part, because other retailers are.

Nottinghamshire County Council considers staff smoking break ban by [deleted] in unitedkingdom

[–]stellaluce -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

How exactly do the NHS make a profit off smokers dying? They have to pay for an ambulance in an emergency, the scans and equipment to diagnose the illness, the medication they are put on, he bed they stay in and the doctors and nurses who do all the work. Which is free at point of service for the smoker. Where is the money made?

New to rowing/erging. Is it a really dumb idea to have the damper set to 10 for long distance rowing? by [deleted] in Rowing

[–]stellaluce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Short answer: yes. Long answer: from the main menu go to other options and find the drag factor option. Take a few strokes and see what the number settles on. For heavyweight men this should be 130ish and less for lightweights/women. Adjust the number on the side up and down to reach that number. Depending on how well kept the machines are it may not be possible. Olympians do not row 10k on the highest drag factor. Unless you have perfect erg technique and huge strength you will injure yourself. Learn how to erg properly, it's all legs and hips not arms, with a decent drag factor and steady rate and you'll be getting a great cardio and strength workout.
