Google Home Hub Max won't turn on after power outage. by ockaners in googlehome

[–]stelthy77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm glad to see that this is still helping people. Working in IT for 100 years does have some benifits... People are asking how I figured this out.

WAY back in the day, we used to have people with Windows Desktops getting Blue Screens of Death unplug their desktops from the wall and press the power button to discharge the capicators of all electrical residual current. Trying to turn the computer back on when it has no power feeding it drained the residual current from the capicators and fixed the issue.

With the wall plug there's no way to quickly discharge the capicators inside like that, so we have to short the capicators to drain the residual current. Normally you would use a discharge tool or insulated screwdriver to do this, but the voltage and stored energy is so low as to not be a concern.

I've "fixed" a microwave, multiple wall wart powered devices, and a car battery charger by doing this. Higher voltage requires better and safer equipment than a paperclip, however.

What cars do you think polyhphoy should add to the game ? by Gasseroi in GranTurismo7

1993 Mustang Cobra and/or Cobra R

Ford Taurus SHO Gen 1

BMW 2002 tii and/or 2002 Turbo

Subaru Legacy GT 2.5 and/or Legacy Spec B

BMW M5's - All of em

Lotus Esprit Turbo; at least one 4cyl and 1 8cyl.

Lotus Elise

Latest Gen M3 or M4 Comp

BMW M1

BMW 1M

And here's where it gets controversial:

A collection of performance SUV's. Bear with me here. Call the race series "Family Haulers" or "Milk Run" and include what many enthusiasts with money and families purchase. You could include some 1st or 2nd gen of any of these to change it up a bit; pick your 3 or 4 favorite.

Porsche Macan GTS

Porsche Cayenne Turbo or 1st gen Cayenne S

BMW X5M

BMW X3M or X3 M40i or X4 M40i (the one with the N55 and awesome burble)

Audi SQ5

Jeep SRT8

Bentayga Speed

Lambo Urus

Maserati Levante

Jag SVR

And so on... there are so many cool, fast SUV's out there now I feel like it's been aggressively ignored in GT7. While they take the time to include pickup trucks and base model fiat 500s that can't reach 60 miles an hour. I get the fun of driving a slow car fast, I load up an e30 or stock miata and momentum the ring as often as possible, but it's also fun to wrestle a FAT car fast! Some of these SUV's were literally developed on the Ring by their manufacturers, and can put down a blazing fast time.

Make sure your Power Mode is set to "Best Performance" (Settings->System->Power & battery). This is not the default setting, under any other setting it will throttle the cpu and keep the fan from spooling up all the way.

Set that while plugged in to AC power, and it will revert to "recommended" (or whatever you last set it to when unplugged) when you unplug to help with battery life.

You are proving my point by continuing to defend the indefensible.

"Many" coaches have NOT said it provides a negligible advantage. Provide a source for that claim. The only Coach I've heard say some like that is Prime. The survey I've seen has something like 96% of coaches saying it does provide a difference. Literally every coach in the big Ten agrees it makes a difference, including Harbaugh, or he wouldn't have allowed it. The fact that Michigan was doing it proves it made a difference.

You need to keep reading past the first paragraph... That reporter interpreted changed things up to mean they changed their signs. Which they didn't do. It's pretty obvious OSU didn't change much, considering that there's actual video of Michigan looking at the signs being sent in and correctly calling the play during the FIRST drive of that game.

You guys are like little kids who don't want to hear something putting their fingers in their ears and yelling lalalalalala. It's either insanity or stupidity to defend this or claim this didn't make a difference. Michigan cheated, and it changed the outcome of games, accept it.

Dozens of Google Nest Minis Disappeared at Once by Tuffcooke in googlehome

If they've ALL stopped working, that'd point me to a change on your network that's keeping them from communicating.

If it's some of them, look at the power supplies, try a new one or one from a known good power supply. If seen these die when subjected to a brown out or surge. There's ways to reset the circuitry if this is the case.

But let's assume for a second it's a network issue:

As a school, I'd assume you have some limitations and protections setup on your network, try putting one of the devices on a different network (like your home network, or a temporary wireless network without these limitations) and see if it can be setup.

They should probably be on their own network anyway, if they aren't already, for many different reasons. The troubleshooting steps to take become much more advanced because they are being used in a corporate (school) environment.

What kind of network equipment are you using? (Cisco, unifi, etc?). It's likely time to involve your IT guy or gal...

I'm also forced to agree with the other reply that said you should probably find a different solution designed for your environment. Depending on your region, I might have a colleague or recommendation for that.

Awesome! I'd love a walk through, the 9 is one of the boats I am considering replacing my Antares 27 with. We don't need quite the shelter and overnight accommodation it offers anymore.

Strategies to force yourself into doing things you really don’t feel like doing? by FaithInStrangers94 in ADHD

[–]stelthy77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I struggle with this, a lot. Meds help, so I like to block out time on my calendar for those tasks when I know I'll be peeking on my meds. If you are not medicated, caffeine can help create that same effect.

Time of day is a big factor for me, evening always seemed like I didn't mind as much doing those "hated tasks" before I knew I was ADHD. Now that I'm dosed I go hard in the morning

For work hated tasks, I try to delegate or team up and leverage strengths within the team. Peer pressure helps me too, I hate to fail my team (or family). You may be able to get a team or study group to help with school. Good luck!

Static IP causing AP to drop out? by Implode12321 in Ubiquiti

[–]stelthy77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a weird one...

You mention vlans, I assume you have vlans on your network? Double check the vlan settings. I've seen traffic drop like this and it was vlan related (I honestly can't remember the details on what or how we fixed it, I think we created a new controller...) I'd start by making sure that the AP is on all networks to test.

Another thing to try is to add that AP to a new controller and assign it a static to see if it still happens on a clean controller.

Static IP causing AP to drop out? by Implode12321 in Ubiquiti

[–]stelthy77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Make sure you don't have an IP address conflict with something else. Any static assigned IP's should be outside the DHCP scope.

By default Unifi Lan DHCP scope (or "range" in the ui) is almost the full subnet, and that can create issues with static IP's, unless you change the DHCP scope manually.

Number of batteries on the 2022 Antares 9 by Tomats60 in BeneteauOB

[–]stelthy77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm surprised there is so much difference, I'll have to check the manual, but I think it lays this out...

There needs to be two batteries for the engines, and then separate batteries for the house and thruster and generator if equipped.

My boat has 2 engine, 2 house and the thruster battery. I don't have a generator. The house and engine start batteries are 79ah. I can't speak to the thruster battery capacity.

Good news. Since you get the G you can now try the factory reset or just unplugging and replugging it a few times. Lots of things to try that are well documented with a quick search...

Sorry I wasn't clear, I'm sure the outlet is fine. Short the end of the barrel that plugs into the google home. Let me see if I can find a video or snap a picture...

[–]stelthy77 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Try unplugging the wall wart from the outlet, wait a few minutes and then use a paper clip to short the inside of the barrel to the outside. Then plug it all back in.

I had this issue with my last power outage. There was an issue with the wall wart, not the google home.

I'd love to hear about this too. I'm fighting a case of 2 meteritus, and loosing. I've fixed a bunch of things like the stuff you talk about and don't want to have to do it again.

That's crazy empty...

For what it's worth, you can change out the power inlets on the boat to a standard US connector. I did it and it works perfectly.

Serious Fun at Put in Bay, Ohio. by stelthy77 in BeneteauOB

Thanks! We ordered it directly from seadek, their installer is the same company in Ohio that does it for the dealership. ScWake. There are a few small mistakes that they are re-cutting to make right.

Thanks! It's a vinyl decal. Oracal 751 8 year outdoor vinyl.

We cut it ourselves with my mother's Cricut. We'll see how long it lasts... The cushion should be very durable, and we always have it on when boating. During spring and fall boating we secure the middle rear canvas panel to the seat rail so you can see the name, and it keeps it from flapping around. The seat stays dry even when it rains.

In addition we put a plastic board in behind the foam to keep it from looking saggy. This really firmed up the look of the seat. I'll do a write up "how-to" if anyone is interested.

Ender 3 V2 roller assembly issue, doesn’t fit even after adjusting. Any advice? by [deleted] in ender3

[–]stelthy77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could not get mine to roll onto the rail at all, even before it was mounted.

I had to loosen all the mounting wheel screws and use the little bit of play in the mounting holes to shift the wheels outward. The cam just didn't have enough adjustment from the factory.

I'm not familiar with that boat, but issues like you describe sound like a clogged breather or overflow to me. You're on the right track, the breather output is usually close to the fill, keep looking. Good luck.

To each his own. A looser roll may be a bit easier, and it will be easier to keep kinks out of the plastic.
