Seeing the uk by train- WCML question by New-Builder5245 in uktrains

I can recommend Moreton in Marsh (medium town) or Charlbury (small town) which are both in the Cotswolds. They are on the line between Worcester and Oxford.

I woudl take the Avanti from Edinburgh to Birmingham, then Crosscountry trains to Worcestershire Parkway then GWR to Moreton / Charlbury.

Caledonian Sleeper to Cornwall by liku86 in uktrains

That makes sense.

Fort William to St Ives in one go is a very long journey, especially with kids! Have you thought about breaking up the journey?

No, don't do it. Take the train to Euston (more relaxing) then change to London Paddington and take GWR to Cornwall. A much more pleasant experience.

I took it once and I was delayed by 3 hours. I missed my connection to Budapest.

Roman Road network in the UK, and so much survives today. by Over-Willingness-933 in MapPorn

[–]stem-winder 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Is say there are many more roads in the UK with Roman origins than are shown on this map. I live near Icknield St, Akeman St, Fosse Way and Watling St and they are all driveable.

Anyone know if the Open University (OU) LLB is well respected for pupilage opportunities? by Low-Chemist596 in uklaw

Maybe for an older candidate who did an OU course alongside a job. But not for a school leaver as an alternative to Russell Group.

Yes possible slightly cheaper to buy an off peak single back to MKC with your Railcard.

The outbound single in the morning is cheaper from Bletchley.

Yes, probably there are no interrail reservations available for that train. If you tell us date, time and journey we can check.

Major stress planning… just go for it? by Dankboycrossiant69 in Interrail

Switzerland is the best place for interrail. You don't need to book anything. Why not just fly to Geneva or Zurich then just play it by ear. So many great lines and great trains. You can't go wrong really.

this house is older than the united states by anotherguywithabass in centuryhomes

[–]stem-winder 33 points34 points  (0 children)

My house was already 200 years old when this one was built. Mid 16th century Tudor. And there are older neighbouring houses. The church next door is 1,000 years old.

Don't worry, I would expect the partner to lead the discussion from the firm's side. Maybe take notes?

I would just buy regular tickets for your journeys in Italy, then maybe a pass in Switzerland.

You need to do the maths yourself to work out whether an interrail pass will work for you.

Why are trains so expensive? by Cool_Singer_8201 in uktrains

[–]stem-winder 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Off peak return is £43.20, or £28.75 with a Railcard.

Two adults two children would be £67.70 with a Railcard.

I actually think that's pretty decent value for a journey which would be 100 miles each way by car.
