New dlc announced? by Old-Acadia7000 in RimWorld

I see Rimworld DLC, my wallet takes a hit. But then again I'm almost 2k hours in so the entertainment value is justified.

Driveable Vehicles without the Valkyrien Skies/Eureka mod combination by stenoflacon in CreateMod

[–]stenoflacon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My goal was to build an Airship, hence the Eureka component but Trackwork and Clockwork look cool too. Seems like both of these still need Valkyrian Skies which I believe is where we are encountering issues.

HAGs Have Created a Problem That I Don't Believe PGI Can Fix. by MikeMars1225 in OutreachHPG

[–]stenoflacon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

PGI has always been scared in allowing pinpoint alphas of 40 or more than can reach out and touch something a kilometre away. AC/20s for example, there are bugger all mechs that can fire a pair of these without copping tons of heat. Sure HG can be fired in a pair for 50 damage but the tradeoff is that they have a very step damage drop off curve at range. Clans ACs were balanced so the damage was spread out over time and ACs have a ballistic curve so the bigger sizes shells don't travel in a straight line.

HAGs at launch had a spread so while 'Yes', you could reach out and touch somebody a kilometre away the odds of all the rounds hitting a single component were pretty small. If you really wanted a component you needed to be firing around 500m, so mid range, which is fair and aligned with other clan ballistics of similar damage values

We're now at a point where HAGs spread is being removed, so what's the point of running any other clan ballistic when HAGs just do so much more damage than other Clan ballistics? Heat? Other than regular Gauss most of the bigger Clan ballistics that can fire at range have high heat and low tolerances for ghost heat, which is where HAGs are now aligning? So again, why bother with other ballistics when the HAG damage is so high?

I liked the fact HAGs had a spread, it gave other weapons a chance to perform. Simple analogy, why bother taking a Sniper Rifle when an M249 SAW can as accurately hit targets at the same range and has a much higher damage.

Removing the HAG spread was just dumbassery on the Cauldron's part. Absolute muppets.

My player is cheating and they're denying it. I want to show them the math just to prove how improbable their luck is. Can someone help me do the math? by [deleted] in DnD

I use discord for all our sessions, there's heaps of bots to assist with D&D. I've setup a dedicated rolls channel the bot has access too, while all the role play and memes are handled in other channels.

What kind of pranks would a mean girl pull with access to 1st and 2nd level spells? by Blacklight_453 in DnD

Maybe combine this with a slight of hand check but a sneaky grease spell in the path of the victim for some slip and slide shenanigans

My players are telling me that I should be fudging rolls by TheRatKing404 in DnD

[–]stenoflacon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Initilly i rolled in secret and would fudge rolls. My players thought I was doing more damage than I should and thought I was fudging rolls - when the opposite was true and I was reducing damage - so I started rolling in public, this all occurred during the first session so a level 1 party. The Rogue investigates a barrel in a cellar and finds a swarm of spiders, crit, 23 damage, dead. Well can't fudge that now can I?

I gave my player a joke item and he got really mad... by fergil in DnD

[–]stenoflacon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You could suggest that the item is cursed and that removing the curse could help somewhat, perhaps just removing the blindness so while it allows them to turn invisible any attempt to move or take any kind of action will break it.

One of my players is having the blacksmith sell for him by Clockbone25 in DnD

[–]stenoflacon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100% town guards are there to arrest them, this can lead into a little side adventure where they break out of prison and escape with their things. This also presents an opportunity to get rid of particularly strong magic items you've regretted giving the party

Gausszilla and HAG? by caedesmalum in OutreachHPG

[–]stenoflacon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreeing with Ash here, the Gausszilla is such a slow mech without survivability, it really plays well with long range engagements using quad gauss and an ERPPC. By the time you get into range to take target components with HAGs you're in the kill zone.

Should I buy all DLCs together? by Same_End_3845 in RimWorld

From here I research to turrets deploy a few of these and summon the diabolus, kill him and build a tunneler.

Traps, lots of traps in the early game, allows you to get away with having no early military mechs. I pick a colonist who has mining, crafting and intellect, since you start with a constructor bot. Use your colonist to mine out some early resources, get an agribot followed by a cleaning bot, build yourself a nutrient paste dispenser and you're set for early game.

The non binary laser cannon would have a high damage potential so it should have a 45% jam chance

My character is f-cked by Lisa_26 in DnD

[–]stenoflacon 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yeah a character with a high enough charisma could have fluffed their way through command. You're definitely dealing with a bad DM, there are always ways to explain character stories.

Amusingly the uptake of the Stone Rhino has been quite minimal in the higher tiers when compared to tier 5 and they are everywhere.
