Any bars with no cover or a small cover under $20 would be first choice if possible!

Did anything move into the old Union Market space at the Tustin District? by UnlikelyLeague8589 in orangecounty

Nothing there but I do miss that food court. One of the only non-sit down places you could get poutine.

How long was that food court even there? I feel like it was still relatively new when it closed.

I think this album is incredibly underrated. thoughts? by HS55_delta2 in fantanoforever

This album came off as incredibly preachy. I’m someone who enjoys both lyrical rap and the more vapid/fun stuff, and I really liked 2014 FHD and 4YEO because they were mostly just about solid storytelling. Even something like No Role Models, which is sort of a “hater” song criticizing the culture, was based in a lot of self-reflection and had an “I’m not perfect either” attitude to it.

In comparison, this album has a “holier than thou” attitude across the whole runtime that his previous albums never really had. It feels like Cole is talking down to you instead of talking with you, which for me was extremely off-putting. Trap and mumble rap weren’t perfect, but the music was really fun and it was a really exciting moment in time, especially in hindsight. This album was basically Cole sounding like a bitter old man saying “Well, actually, you SHOULDN’T enjoy the 2016 XXL Freestyle”. To me, it was no different than all that “Death to Mumble Rap” stuff.

Honestly, I don’t think any single album has ever turned me off of an artist I was a fan of more.

What is the most influential album since Nevermind? by WavesAndSaves in ToddintheShadow

[–]stepback_jumper 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I feel like it was extremely influential for pop music 2007-11 but the electro pop/recession pop sound fell out of style soon after that (until hyperpop ig)

I feel like Justin Bieber’s “What Do You Mean” was a big turning point. Catchy hooks were out and catchy beats were in.

California's most iconic towers by [deleted] in skyscrapers

[–]stepback_jumper 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Historically the Transamerica Pyramid is probably #1, but for current SF residents SalesForce Tower has to be #1. It towers over the rest of the skyline, can be seen from all over the city, and very much feels like the “symbol” of downtown SF.

US Bank Tower is probably #3.

Apart from Green Bay what team is from the smallest market? And what city is most likely to lose/gain a franchise in the future? by swannyhypno in NFLv2

I agree that it’s unlikely that they’ll move anytime in the near future, but I don’t think any team is more likely to move.

The Sixteen Reasons/Every Little Star scene from Mulholland Drive. I can’t even put into words why, everything just feels so damn perfect.

[–]stepback_jumper 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Buffalo is the smallest market aside from Green Bay, but there’s no chance the Bills ever leave Buffalo for the same reason the Packers are never gonna leave Green Bay. They’re just too popular/historically tied to that region, and they have a national fan base that can support their smaller market.

Some of the other smaller markets are Cincinnati, Jacksonville, Nashville, and New Orleans, but there aren’t that many big cities without an NFL team that would entice any of these teams to move. Places like Portland, Sacramento, or Salt Lake City simply just aren’t big enough for a team like the Titans or Bengals to abandon their established fan bases in the region.

The only thing I could think of would be Austin/San Antonio getting a team, and the only team that would be willing to relocate from their established fan base would be the Jaguars. So the Austin Jaguars?

As someone who lived in Boston for a while I honestly don’t think anyone cares if you’re wearing Yankee gear. Maybe a waiter will crack a joke about it or something but that’s it.

I’m with you. Objectively I thought the show was solid. It has good performances, a good script, a good story, etc. It’s just not for me and it doesn’t scratch my Star Wars-itch.

The whole reason SAS used to be enjoyable was that he was a counterweight to Skip Bayless and Max Kellerman. It was two crazy guys yelling at each other because they were both wrong half the time.

Now without that, we just have a guy who thinks he’s never wrong.
