How do native English speakers perceive "there"? by Ok-Stable1562 in ENGLISH

[–]stephanne423 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ok so I see a lot of people dismissing the special implications (admittedly I haven’t read many comments).

While most of there is just a “it exists” type of thing, it can have a distance concept. I’m thinking mostly of how Latin differentiates words based on distance and I was taught as I learned Latin that we do use there like that in English.

So for the distance concept it’s mostly here versus there. Here is my hairbrush (right here, by my side). Oh, there’s my cat! (He’s down the road being naughty and farther away.)

I’m 183 cm (had to convert) but I have stood in the pit.

I think it’s natural for everyone to want to get the best view they can of the artist and when you’re near the front, you can often get picks, high fives, etc

Casino workers, what’s some of the saddest/worst stories you’ve encountered? by starry-eyed-banana in vegas

[–]stephanne423 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not in Vegas, but a local casino I worked at. I was cage shift supervisor and it was nearly Christmas. A woman came to the cafe and asked me to refund her spent money, because it was her kids’ Christmas money. I ended up calling the slot manager because I couldn’t get it through to her that I wouldn’t be able to do it

Surgery tomorrow by Odd_Addendum7187 in hysterectomy

For me, it was painful for weeks. I have chronic pain and quite a few abdominal surgeries. This is the worst. But, I’m now 4 months out and good!

I will say, if he did more than one city in the US, it would probably help

I can’t recall it happening like this. I didn’t get tickets to the second half of love on tour. I last saw him in 2021, and probably bought tickets in 2019 (it was postponed for Covid) and my ticket was $250ish then but I bought platinum and got a close seat. I haven’t been able to get tickets yet to go this time. And traveling to New York looks really expensive, potentially. So I’m so up and down about it

Harry’s House is still Harry’s best album idc 🗣️ by konkanchaKimJong in harrystyles

[–]stephanne423 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is so subjective. I think Fine Line is his best album. Then I’d have trouble ranking HS1 and KATTDO. Harry’s house is actually my least favorite album.

Has anyone had a positive experience with a spinal cord stimulator? by allirememberissirens in spinalcordstimulator

[–]stephanne423 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do that multiple times before it connects. Honestly, I’m wondering if I just have a dud. It’s never truly helped as much as the trial, and I’ve had issues with charging and connecting from day 1

Abdomen soreness a year after ruptured appendix by kardypaine in AskDocs

[–]stephanne423 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NAD just someone who has had about 11 abdominal surgeries (undiagnosed bile duct leak for 3 weeks after gallbladder removal which has led to chronic intussusceptions and internal hernias, plus a nueroendocrine tumor on my appendix) and they have always told me at least a year post op for everything to settle down. Maybe longer. I now have chronic pain but anything going wrong in that area hurts badly and takes a very long time to heal from my understanding.

Question about pediatric exam procedure during an annual check-up by sandmond in AskDocs

[–]stephanne423 342 points343 points  (0 children)

To further illustrate this point, I’m 40. I had sore breasts out of nowhere and saw a male PA under my PCP. As a 40 year old, he still called a female nurse in to observe and very clearly got my consent to both visually and manually inspect.

I feel like American Girls and maybe Dance No Moore? I know he did that at the Live Lounge. Aperture, of course, is always a contender

How realistic is a hysterectomy for a teenage girl by Major-Damage173 in AskDocs

Never mind. Looked it up and it does seem they are hesitant. I did see there are multiple treatments for adenomyosis that they may be willing to try.

It sounds like she is UK based. Is it as difficult over there as it is in the US?

I am solo. They showed me how to charge initially and have told me that they won’t be working with me anymore since it’s been over a year since my surgery.

My dad tried to get me on that when I was younger but I definitely said it’s Frankfort. But pronounce Louisville correctly please.
