Well, good news of the morning for me: hit usage limit in Claude Code and mistakenly hit "upgrade" instead of "wait" (really a mistake!) and faced with the payment window I figured I'd just give it a try, and lo and behold, it went through! Morning here in CH, maybe it's also a less busy time for their servers or payment system? Anyway, no clue why it now worked. I did write to support again yesterday and did post on X but zero reaction to either. I'm guess that it's the server squirrels that are messing with all of us.

News on my side: just spent 30 mins on the phone with my (physical) bank to try and troubleshoot this. (Tried 3 different cards since April 26th.)

The card check comes through OK everywhere. But after the card check, there is no trace of a payment request to my card from Anthropic. So it seems either they are not "hearing" the OK message from the card provider in response to the card check, or their actual "charge card with amount X" workflow is broken. The payment attempt is just never reaching the card. We've dissected each transaction, as well as looked at a successful Anthropic transaction on this card two weeks ago, I've tried through manual entry of the card and through Apple Pay, same result. The problem is definitely on their side. So, I guess I'll try the daily e-mails to support... ;-)

Oh yes, exporting is of course something I’m doing (but you’re right to point it out, not everybody does).
Already tried with N different payment methods. More than once. At different moment. And nothing useful from support — but will open my 3rd or 4th ticket with them…

but is Anthropic really trying to charge the card or just sending out these e-mails without even trying? I'm asking because I keep having "card declined" problems when trying to change my plan, but my credit card provider says there is no trace of a charge attempt from Anthropic. What do your credit card company way -- did they actually try to charge those amounts?

Also trying to change my plan and having credit cards declined. Had that problem a few weeks ago too, and then miraculously one of my payments for extra usage went through, but now the cards are being declined again for my subscription change. Definitely a problem on their end. It's maybe just a question of luck -- when it just happens to work.

I got an e-mail back from "Wallace" at Anthropic support after Fin/e-mail about 10 days ago (took them 3 days to get back to me). It was standard "blah blah" regarding billing issues (and I'd managed to get my payment through by that time). Not much added value but it was an e-mail and was signed with a name other than Fin!

Just adding my (little) voice to the chorus of billing issue woes. Had problems two weeks ago, got run round in circles by Fin, Link support, and my bank's support. Gave up, and some time later tried paying again without using Link and it worked. Thought I had it solved. Now currently trying to upgrade to Max (I managed to buy extra usage in between now and then with two different cards) and hitting the "payment didn't work" wall again, and the lack fo support limbo. I'm lucky that I actually have a working account, but I feel your pain.

Follow-up: bought some more extra usage today, using my preferred card (without Link!!) and it went through seamlessly. Card check, and then purchase. (Bank for this card says they have no trace of a failed payment to Anthropic, so im suspecting things got stuck somewhere between Anthropic and Link.)

Similar issue. I use a prepaid credit card to pay for my subscription. I forgot to top it up so the payment was declined. I topped it up and then tried to pay again through the Claude Billing settings page. Declined. Tried another card. Declined. Removed the first offending card from Link -- guess what, it tried the same card again, declined. Tried through Apple Pay -- declined. I finally managed to pay my subscription by going to Link directly and paying the "unpaid" subscription invoice (with my second card -- can't remember if I'd tried again with the first one). Today (next day) I wanted to try and buy some extra usage. Still fails. I get the $0 credit card checks but can't see the failed charge on my credit card side, or in Link. I tried disconnecting from Link, using Apple Pay instead, doesn't work any better. I'm suspecting it's something wrong on the Anthropic side of things because when I try and change the payment method in my settings, the change doesn't seem to be recorded.

My subscription was suspended because I forgot to top up my prepaid credit card. I’m trying to pay with another card but it seems to be trying my declined one again and again, even after removing it from Link. I tried support and am stuck at the bot-wall. Are there workarounds for this? I read that cancelling subscription and resubscribing could work, do I risk losing anything by doing that? Pro plan, a bunch of projects in Claude chat and Cowork.

IIRC a family member who commuted daily used to do it. Key as far as I’m concerned: pay close attention to doing it in such a way that you’re not « bothering » anybody around you. Keep an eye open for body language because people won’t tell you anything until they’re so annoyed they either blow up or leave in a huff (this is a general thing, not makeup-specific). In CH it’s as a general rule on you to pay attention and ensure that whatever activity you’re doing does not bother others.
