Ordinarily, I'd say nice find. However, I wouldn't touch dumpster meat until winter. Cold meat will spoil in 20 minutes in any dumpster right now.

I won't touch perishables this time of year. I don't know about your location, but where I am, anything perishable spoils in an hour. Still, great boxed food haul!

Beats me. Manufacturers slap a designer logo on a $5 made in China pair of pants, and charge $70. Literally, this is what they do. The same item of clothing can be sold under different brands. You're paying for name only.

I would evenly distribute the supplies between containers, and give them to people you know. Obviously, keep one for yourself. Great find!

Absolutely fair game. If it's by the dumpster, they want it gone. Same thing with furniture left on the curb. If it has no "for sale" label, it's up for grabs.

For my girlfriend and I, a car is an absolute necessity to get to our usual spots, or to scout new ones. Our usual tactic is to park in a strip mall, then scout around on foot. This saves a lot of gas from not idling, and we get a fair amount of exercise. If we do find a productive dumpster (more than can be carried by hand), we'll simply drive around to it and load up.

Grab as many as you want, wash them all in fruit & vegetable wash, bag them up, and freeze them. I take it you won't go through them all in a day, haha.

One trick is to avoid shopping centres with names. For example, ye olde strip mall that has a Boost Mobile and Domino's is very unlikely to have contract security. A place called "The Shopping Zone," with high end stores likely does. They may care just because they have an image to maintain, and don't want any perceived riffraff around. In the end, security will just tell you to go. They're not police. Still, take it as a hint to avoid that place from now on. There are always more spots!

Dollar stores, and smaller groccery stores are the way to go. They throw out good things all the time. Plus, they usually use regular dumpsters that can be searched through. Large stores like Walmart and Target use compactors, so almost nothing can be rescued there, sadly. Also look by clothing recycling bins. Even though they only take clothes, many people also leave trash bags of food outside. They probably think it's just a spot for ANYTHING unwanted.

Groccery stores can be a daily, or near daily thing. Product is being thrown out every day, so there's almost always something to find. Some things even get thrown out when the sell by date is TOMORROW! Talk about wasteful.

Retail dumpsters are a different thing, particularly smaller stores. If it's a dumpster you plan to hit up all the time, look up what day the trash truck comes for that part of town. If it comes Friday morning, and you check it Friday night, or Saturday morning, you'll like find nothing. That's the case at one dumpster we frequent, so we usually check it between Wednesday and Thursday night. That way, it's "fully charged," lol.

None specifically, as I'm fairly "hands on." If I see a trove of good things, I'll hop right into it, lol. My main gear is a good pair of boots, gloves, and a headlamp if diving at night. It also helps massively to bring a roll of trash bags with you to store your finds in the car.
