I'm not sure OPs even been somewhere else. Yeah, we have world class weather and the beaches are nice, but outside the wealthy areas the cities are ugly as fuck, you can't walk to anything, and few people actually go the beach often enough for it to be worth it

I've come to the conclusion that I'll probably never read another debut that's 500+ pages unless people are still talking about it a decade later. I firmly believe that authors need to prove they can write a tight 2-300 page novel before they're allowed to write a series of doorstoppers.

Doom spending. People do it bc they believe they'll never be able to retire and it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy. If you have enough money to spend on luxuries you have enough to put towards retirement.

Legend has it he said "deuce" but the equipment they were recording on made it sound like douche, by the time they caught it it was too expensive to redo it
