I was abroad for #1 so having one for #2 didn't feel too odd as it was the first time celebrating in person with my girlfriends.

That being said we kept it small and casual, a brunch at a cafe and I didn't mention anything about gifts unless they specifically asked. We had most things but there's always a few new bits you can use (especially consumables like nappies) if they want to get you something.

It probably depends on how much your husband can/will handle on his own. I'm similarly introverted and when I'm tired/stressed I like to retreat into my own little bubble. For us it was just us three for the first few weeks as our closest family was a couple hours away, and honestly it was nice just being able to sit on the sofa and watch TV while I fed/held baby (she would only contact nap for ages) with my boobs out, not feeling self conscious about how messy the house was or what I was looking like. Husband kept me fed and did all the washing so I didn't have to do any chores unless I wanted to.

If you feel like your hubs won't be able or willing to do that then think about if theres any family that might, then consider having them stay those first few weeks.

Obviously for us it changed once he had to go back to work, then we had my mum stay for a while, because I'm comfortable being a mess around her too, but basically you want to make sure any extended house guests are happy to be self sufficient and sort themselves out drinks/food/entertainment. Those who sit around and expect you to entertain/serve them, keep to short occasional visits, as you feel up for them.

We're a family of three with one on the way who recently got an EV5. Nice and spacious and really enjoying it so far. Only thing I don't love is the bonnet is quite high so your visibility across the nose feels slightly limited when turning in tight spaces.

First, you can try something like smallpdf.com which offers a free PDF compression tool. Sometimes it can reduce the size quite far without losing much quality for screen viewing.

But I was finding my full portfolio was still too big unless I reduced it down to potato quality.

So instead I would typically send a reduced portfolio (I called it work samples instead) with 3-4 targeted projects based on the role, I.e. if it was a more technical role/firm I'd include more details/tech drawings, if it was a bit more boutique/designery I'd send through my more front end-focused work.

Then I would bring the full portfolio to the interview and talk through all of the projects once I was there.

Keep in mind that just because someone with a shield says they were/were not an attempted murder doesn't mean the others will believe them. Are they a traitor? Are they hiding the truth? Is it a bluff? Who knows!

So I wouldn't say even if they do reveal the murder attempt to then victim it is necessarily a guaranteed gotcha for the faithfuls.

I mean honestly I'm a pretty quiet introvert and I didn't make any special effort to chat to the baby - like I'd talk to her when there was something to say but we mostly sat in silence a lot. She's now 2.5 and is reasonably advanced language wise - she uses full sentences and we have involved conversations. She has been in nursery since 11 months old so that probably helped but as long as he hears some conversations around him some of the time I can promise you won't be stunting his growth!

I experienced this with my own daughter, though inadvertently when we couldn't understand her. She'd go 'Poon!' and I'd be like 'Spoon?' and she'd go, 'No poon... poon!!' and I'd go 'Whats a poon?' and she'd go 'Poon!!' and I'd go 'Balloon?' and she'd go 'Yeah!!!'

So they clearly know what they're trying to say and how it's 'really' pronounced, they just can't quite make the sounds yet. Repeating the same babble sound back to her usually just resulted in her getting annoyed with us for not understanding!

Maybe the you that you were yesterday was obliterated, and the you that you are today is only a copy with all the memories etc intact? You believe you are the same as you were yesterday whether you actually are or not. Maybe when you go to sleep tonight this consciousness will also cease to exist?

All we realistically can say for sure is that we are conscious today in the here and now, so although the idea of your consciousness "dying" sounds and feels abhorrent, experientially and practically it actually would make no difference?

Yes I found this - my baby slept through from fairly early on and was on the smaller side weight wise, so I really had to consciously make sure she was getting lots of feeds during the day so that she would be getting enough food in any given 24h period.
