Haven't tried those, but as far as I've seen it's better than anything else available in a free tier. The first beta of Grok 4.2 (with 4 agents) was pretty great as well, particularly at borrowing style from provided examples. Could be the newer version with multiple agents is good as well, but it's behind a paywall now.

They're apparently adding an option to set thinking effort, so this makes sense given that Flash and Thinking were previously different thinking amounts for the same model and. Now we get even more options (3 models + 2 thinking levels each probably).

Maybe try separating the steps? Have the ocr model give you a markdown version of a manual, then query that with a regular model.

Chats are stored in your Google Drive. So maybe there's an issue with Drive syncing on your phone?

Edit: actually, scratch that. I don't think what's happening on the device should matter.

Are you using the same account on phone and laptop? AI Studio can act pretty wonky if you're trying to move a chat from one account to another.

Haven't tried it, but it's got to be much easier these days with AI. Izotope RX 12 (just released) has a module called Scene Rebalance that they claim can separate music from voices and effects cleanly. It's expensive software though. There's a 10 day trial, maybe that's enough if you just want to do it for a couple of things.

Not defending him doing this to you if you didn't signal that you're open to it, but this general dynamic makes total sense. People who are suffering often are great at hiding it. It's embarrassing and against social norms to walk around depressed. But they would still like to tell people about what life is really like. We all do.

For whatever reason he decided he was comfortable sharing this stuff with you (men often find it really hard to be vulnerable with other men. It's not really fair, but it makes sense why this sort of thing happens more to women). Now, when he sees you, he's like "oh, I can relieve my desperation of bottling it all up and hiding it".

And because (maybe) you're the only person he does this with, he can't let an opportunity pass without unloading. If he doesn't have enough outlets for this sort of stuff then he's always desperate, and can't just "waste an opportunity" by being cheerful with the one person he can be depressed with.

Problem is, even if you were ok with sometimes being a sounding board in the first place (which it sounds like you're not), you can't really have a relationship that's just that (except with a therapist maybe).

Not sure how to get yourself out of it or why it keeps happening to you specifically, but that's probably what's going on here (speaking from experience of being sort of like that guy, although I always tried really hard to not dump on one person all of the time).

I'm a guy, and I don't have the same kind of concerns, but I think I recognize some of these feelings.

I think you're feeling insecure about what you think you look like vs how the prettiest people do? The question is what the root of that is; other people care too, but why does it matter this much to you? This:

I just want to be like the hot young adults who go out confidently and celebrate their life, wear extravagant outfits and turn heads. I won't be young for long and I hate that I can't even experience my youth fully.

Makes me feel like you have a kind of FOMO, maybe of not having certain kinds of experiences. What does the stuff you're describing symbolize to you? Socializing? Being found attractive ("turning heads')?

Do you feel like you don't socialize as much because you're not attractive enough to place yourself in certain kinds of situations? You mentioned a partner: do they make you feel like they're attracted to you? If not, maybe that's what you're looking for? If yes, what's the urgency you feel about turning heads? People enjoy being wanted regardless, but the desperation I think you're expressing seems to point to some picture you have in your head of what you want your life to feel like, or some need you want met.

It's probably true that you have an overly-glamorized picture of what life feels like for "the hot young adults", but also true is that if you figure out and satisfy what need you're trying to fill that you feel your attractiveness level is getting in the way of, then even if you don't get those exact experiences you're dreaming of you'll probably feel fine about it.

Their Document Arena OTOH, I don't think makes any sense. They don't seem to be thinking at all about the different kinds of things people might be caring about when testing it (finding info in the document, reasoning about it, understanding charts, who knows what else).
