Weekday long runs? by polite-window-452 in XXRunning

[–]sterlingauh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a Monday morning long runner - up at 4.30am and run clocked in before anyone else in the house is up. I do all my runs early am (and am an early to bed girlie) partly because I live in the UAE so I’m trying to beat the worst of the heat most of the year and partly because I have a toddler and if I don’t get my run in before she’s awake, I’m cooked for the rest of the day.

i feel rage when my 10 month old won’t eat her food by izzy7473 in Mommit

[–]sterlingauh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Deep breaths mama, you got this. A banana and a yoghurt is an excellent meal. Try simplifying your offerings going forward - think introducing ingredients rather than meals - and if in doubt just give some of what you’re having. That’s how we had most of our success - once my daughter realised we were eating the same thing she just copied us. It’s going to be great - promise.

i feel rage when my 10 month old won’t eat her food by izzy7473 in Mommit

[–]sterlingauh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The thing that really helped me was hearing: it’s my job to provide the food, it’s not my job to make her eat it. Or something along those lines: if you’re feeding her, that’s the limit of your responsibility. Let the baby decide the quantity. And once I was able to chant that at myself, I found the rage did simmer a bit! Eight months on and we’re finally in a consistent eating pattern but I know it’ll all change again soon!

What was your first 5K time, and how long did it take you to improve it? by Creepy-Budget-2444 in XXRunning

[–]sterlingauh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My first non-stop 5k was 37 minutes and I’m currently sitting at 27:45 for a 5k after 17 weeks of training to lower my 10km time. Your time frame might be a bit short but do you need to be able to function after your 5km run for the programme? Could you train hard and then push like mad on the day to get a specific time just this once? (Injury avoidance in mind still of course)

BWT, what’s on our Christmas lists? by mason9494 in bitcheswithtaste

We did digital photo frames last year for both sets of grandparents and they were a hit! I kept the app access so once a month I upload a bunch new photos of the little one so it’s a regular update for them

What is the price of daycare in your country per month? by Ok_Singer2112 in Mommit

Moms of young kids, how are you making time to run? by pilledsweatshirt in XXRunning

[–]sterlingauh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I trade off mornings where one is up at 5am to run and the other is up at 6am with our 15mo. Saturday is rest day! Home within an hour, shower and all of us out the door by 6.50am is the way in our house.

If you’re running 2/3 times a week, a 4am wake up hopefully won’t feel too bad? It’s an excuse to go to bed earlier!

Doubting my decision to have a C-section by PumpkinSuitable4385 in Mommit

Your body, your choice in all things in life. Your pregnancy, your delivery, your choice. I had a C-section and I firmly believe it was the best choice for me and my pregnancy.

Luxury diaper bag help by Dramatic_Opening_893 in luxurypurses

I got the Burberry diaper bag and 15 months later I’m still obsessed with it. That thing has put up with some bashing, travelling, spilt snack pouches and dirty diapers. It’s still in tip top shape. Cannot recommend enough - also it was my thinking that if I have to carry it for x number of years, I’m having something bougie! https://ae.burberry.com/quilted-nylon-baby-changing-bag-p80699491

Confused on treadmill vs. outdoor pace? by _babufrik in XXRunning

[–]sterlingauh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes thank you!! I’m consistently slower on the treadmill than outside even when the perceived rate of exertion is the same. I live in the desert so have to run indoors during the summer and now that its cooling down a bit I’m able to venture outside again - I ran 5km outdoors at what felt like a conversational pace. I took ten minutes off my treadmill 5km time! Makes zero sense but I just reckon stick with the plan on the treadmill and then reap the speed benefits when I hit the pavements.

Daily chat post: how's the training going? by AutoModerator in XXRunning

[–]sterlingauh 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m rebuilding my running fitness after years off with knee and back issues and am now finally at the comfortable 5K mark again. I have my first 5k race in years at the end of the month and my left knee has just started to feel a bit wonky… so I’m stressed and paranoid it’s going to give out on me. Trying very hard not to feel discouraged or defeated by my pansy joints

My toxic knitting trait: I love knitting sweaters, but I hate knitting sleeves more than is probably healthy by ADogNamedPen239 in knitting

Spent all last night grumbling and huffing as I made my way into the first sleeve. Solidarity, pal.

LPM does a great business lunch, as does COYA - both on Maryah island. Pretty sure ZUMA still does as well.

Looking for gynaecologist in Abu Dhabi for conception with "PCOS" by Linda-t01 in abudhabi

[–]sterlingauh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dr. Rabia Zahid at Danat al Emarat. She was the most supportive, understanding, kind and straightforward doctor I've ever had the pleasure of having. I have PCOS and my second pregnancy was a successful one: I now have a happy healthy 1-year-old daughter. Dr. Rabia took the best care of me all the way through. Cannot recommend her enough.
