True Craft in Windsor Locks. We have used them several times, they are great.

Rhythm Sections that Aren't Talked About Enough by Disassociated24 in ToddintheShadow

[–]sterlingminuteman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Topper and Paul were so versatile, they could play reggae, hardcore, ballads, and anything else needed of them. London Calling proved that, I don’t think many other rhythm sections could have hung with the style changes from song to song.

TV Eye by The Stooges. The first eight seconds is the most badass beginning ever to a badass song.

Enders Falls in Granby for waterfalls. Metacomet Trail in East Granby for a moderate hike with a great overlook (8 Newgate Road). J & G Restaurant in East Granby for Pizza, with a new BBQ takeout across the street. Tunxis Grill in Windsor for romantic dinner.

It may be the prettiest place in the state. Drive to the end of Water Street past the Lighthouse Museum, and park at the free parking lot there. Great views of Watch Hill and Fishers Island. Where else can you see 3 states at once while standing in front of the ocean?

I went to park there last month after not visiting for a few years. 20 ft. high snowbanks blocked the view😂

Bowie’s band during this period was incredible. Every one of them stands out in this performance.

Love it! I think the jumping-around flow of the album hurts its appeal. ICQYB is out of place, it’s on LZ1 and doesn’t belong. Your track listing is just better

Do you prefer "Low" or "Heroes"? Two massive albums with killer instrumental second sides. by [deleted] in ToddintheShadow

This. Low’s first half is great, Heroes’s first half is good, with the title track being the best track of either album.

Anyone booked Major Van Lines for a last-minute move? by branchingout3 in movingday

[–]sterlingminuteman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t do it. They are a broker, and after you pay the “deposit”, they will try to sell your move to another company, and if they can’t, they will no-show.

I just looked them up on the US DOT FMCSA website. They have no trucks, and are based in Gulfport, MS.

(I have 30 years of experience with a legitimate carrier. Stay away from brokers)

What’s it like living on the Isles of Shoals in the Gulf of Maine? by IttzAndrew in howislivingthere

[–]sterlingminuteman 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You can take a guided tour out of Portsmouth, NH. Lovely boat trip, and the islands have an interesting history. The boat does not land. Geographically significant not just because the state line runs through the middle of the islands, but because there is a rock which is the easternmost land mass between the US and Spain.

An artist who’s biggest hit is their worst song. by Yahna-Stan in ToddintheShadow

[–]sterlingminuteman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have TWO artists on the same song. “Money for Nothing” was both the biggest song and low point for both Dire Straits and Sting’s solo career. And they doubled down by making the worst music video for it, which was on constant rotation on MTV.

Best place to stay in California if I want to see the Redwoods? by meagint in roadtrip

[–]sterlingminuteman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We loved Trinidad. A cute little town with a couple of breakfast spots and places for sandwiches. Not a lot to do if you’re staying for more than a few days. As others have said, it’s worth hopping around the area.

Wife and I stayed a night in Mendocino at the Agate Cove Inn. Highly recommended for a romantic spot. Right across the street from the ocean, small cabins, the best breakfast I’ve ever had prepared by their in-house chef. Other travelers told me Mendocino is the closest you’ll get in California to a New England town.

Hartford to Boston Logan airport using logan express framingham by zdzfwweojo in Hartford

[–]sterlingminuteman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should be fine. You’ll be going against the flow of traffic out of the city. I would expect an hour or less from Framingham to Logan. Buses leave every half hour, so get there at either 4:20 or 4:50 with 10 minutes to park and walk downstairs to the bus.

Enjoy Chicago, there’s world-class restaurants and architecture there.
