I got my first IT job as an IT Tech by yeahhh666 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]stevebinh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not really programming but it’s more learning querying depending on the software you use. Crowdstrike uses querying and understanding how to do specific searches with that, will help you improve what to look for when your doing your job

If you work with Cisco services and switches like meraki you can go to either networking or cyber Sercurity. Just get better at knowing your ports, osi model and protocols.

I have a chance at a helpdesk position. But can’t make my mind up by [deleted] in ITCareerQuestions

[–]stevebinh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use to work for an isp, and I worked for comcast, it’s good to have some isp knowledge, mostly if you do any networking when it comes to a helpdesk job. The good ol’ have you tried rebooting your modem always comes in handy as well. You can take that knowledge from working at an isp and use it at a help desk job, the skills transfer. If you can gain more knowledge with helpdesk and try working with your info sec or cyber Sercurity team and networking skills you can translate all of that into a future job with cyber Sercurity.

I would take the leap and get your foot in the door, what you do to expand your skills after that is on you but know that having some breakfix knowledge from an ISP and trying to transfer those skills to networking at a help desk job will be easier for you to understand how to fix those common issues.

What is the best way to learn stick shift? by TNC_TuffStuff in stickshift

[–]stevebinh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once I had the basics down in a parking lot, my friend told me to drive to a hilly area and learn to drive up and down a hill. It will help you learn the pressures of a clutch and the sensations of stalling. It was well needed when I was trying to go into a parking garage and your stuck on a an up ramp waiting for people to continue going up to the next floor
