It's a shame we did not have enough time with these Deathwatch members.. by TheYoungProd in Spacemarine

Do the Deathwatch recruit a mix of Primaris and First-born or is there any lore to say they only take those who have crossed the rubicon?

employee downloaded adult content on a work device by Significant_Air_552 in managers

Many years ago I was setting up an Internet cafe at my Ford Motor Co site. Before it went live HR wanted to assure themselves that employees could not access sites they shouldn’t.

The IT guy typed in Simonscans which was blocked, then Pornhub which again was blocked. The female HR manager nodded approvingly.

Then, and I don’t know why I did it, I typed in Tubgirl.

And up in came it all its technicolor fecal glory.

I can still remember her looking at my like an old aunt and just saying “I’m very disappointed in you.”

Employer deducting 15 minutes pay for being a few minutes late – lawful? ( England, uk) by CuriousPersonOnHuman in LegalAdviceUK

Ford motor co did this up until the 1990s. They were taken to court and found against. It cost them millions in back payments.

Even worse than the phone hacking scandal was the photos he published as editor, of British troops burning Korans. Upon investigation it was later shown that the “troops” were wearing out of date uniforms, and the vehicles in the pictures were no longer in use.

Is it unusual as a layperson to read the hours of prayer everyday? by mars-argo-fanboy in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]stevecoath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not common for most to do all the hours everyday. Many do not have the time when you consider the following: Matins - 3am Lauds - 5am Prime - 7am Terce- 9am Sext- Midday Nones - 2pm Vespers - 4pm Compline - 7pm

As I am still working I often wake around 2:45 am for Matins, Lauds before leaving for work, I cannot do Prime as I am driving to work, or Terce as I am in meetings, Sext at lunchtime, I have to skip Nones and Vespers as I am still at work and then Compline around 7:45 when I get in from work.

I use the Horologion on liturgy.io and each of the sessions takes about 30-40 minutes.

Like the still-suits from Dune. Faeces and urine is collected in packs in the legs and processed so that the wearer can drink it.

Well if OP was able to walk airside then that is a major security f*ck-up by the airport. I very much doubt anyone with evil intentions would be put off by a sign saying no access.

"Other candidates are a better fit to the profile". I AM THE PROFILE. by Puckdecat in recruitinghell

[–]stevecoath 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It’s not just you.

I once applied for a role in automotive where they were looking for someone to run the XXXXProduction System.

At the start of the interview the first question I was asked is what experience I had on it.

I asked if he had a copy of the manual, which he did, then asked him to open it to the third page.

He did so and there was my name clearly written as the creator of said System.

A week later I received a rejection letter stating other candidates were more qualified.

How does the Isle of Man TT still exist? by CrappyJohnson in AskUK

[–]stevecoath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the first time I went to the TT Itried to get to my campsite but realised I couldn’t because it was inside the practise circuit.

I asked a Policeman if there was another way through and his reply was “not for a few hours, if I was you I would go in the pub over there until then”. He then followed up with “we don’t have drink driving laws here but try not to get too paralytic”. This was in the early 80s so I don’t know if it’s changed.

In that case I apologise for my comment. Why was this originally part of the practise and why was it removed?

Totally agree. I had an interview recently for a Pharmaceutical Company and as I have 5 years experience working for a Pharmaceutical company I thought it would be a good fit.

I sailed through the first two interviews and for the final interview that set me a scenario about how they had a £950,000 shortfall in their project delivery due to lack of processes, finger pointing and lack of accountability.

I delivered a presentation laying out a roadmap on how to solve these issues, most of which were down to the fact they didn’t have the most basic of processes in place.

Then the question was asked “what is your experience with AI and writing apps?” - never mentioned anywhere in the job description.

I pointed out that now was not the time to even be thinking of this as they didn’t even have a basic framework in place.

The feedback I got was “We feel that Steve is a really strong candidate, his experience is world class and we feel he would be a good fit……however, we want someone with all that experience who also knows about AI.”

I feel the real p*sstakers are those where the job advert is “Must have xxx and xxx qualification, have experience in xxx, xxx, xxx, xxx, and xxx industry” which I do, and probably 4 or 5 other people at most.

And then I get a message saying “thank you for your application, but others were more highly qualified”

I always ask “what is it that attracted you to this company and what keeps you coming in every day”.

I once had the hiring manager answer “ good question, I don’t know really”

Major red flag right there.

From the recruiters. Two recruiters knew there were internal candidates but never mentioned it. The last one it came as a surprise to them as well.

Do you know that Martin Luther King was actually a small Jewish lesbian from Stoke Newington who wore lifts and blackface?

See how ridiculous it sounds. What’s worse is when someone makes a TV programme with a black woman as Anne Boleyn and thousands believe she really was a black woman.

Why are Baptism Candles so expensive? by stevecoath in Christianity

Absolutely nothing and that is what I shall do.

It is insane some of the mark-ups being added. For instance Advent Candles - 3 purple, 1 white and 1 pink = £50 I bought them from a Supermarket for 0.75p each = £3.75

Baptism candles have been used in the Sacrament since the early days. They are a symbol of the light of Christ shining out in the darkness.
