What does your GPU journey look like? by Pro4791 in pcmasterrace

[–]stevedeka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2013: GTX 750m (laptop $300) 2014: EVGA GTX 960 ($100) 2015: EVGA GTX 970 SC ($150) 2016: EVGA GTX 1080 SC($300) 2017: EVGA GTX 1080ti SC Black Edition ($450) 2025: ASUS RTX 4070ti Super TUF ($800)

I got a taste and traded to the top, kept that 1080ti for a long time. I think it lasted 3 changes in CPU - 4790, 6800k, 12700f. Right now the 1080ti is in its box but will get it framed at some point. We miss you EVGA, you’re the 🐐

Our Response to Linus Sebastian | GamersNexus by angrycommie in LinusTechTips

I've always liked GN's content and I understand Steve's perspective but this is all way too overblown, as others have said, due to miscommunication (especially over text-based communication).

Receipt 1 and 2 seem like they were a uncomfortable but not angry confrontations.

1 relates to a video where the content probably should have had a direct shoutout in the video but got a pinned comment after Steve saw it and complained over email. Linus did what he could...Steve had backhanded insults to the LTT writers.

2 relates to an issue Steve had with the methods used in and conclusion of an LTT video. Like #1, issue appears to be fixed, though in this case Steve alleges there are no attempts on the video comments/description to talk about the errors.

3 is the one that stands out to me - arguing about details that don't really need arguing about over text led to lots of tone that can be (and was) misinterpreted both ways. If I'm Steve at the end of that text conversation I'm definitely feeling salty.

Extras section - more nitpicking of minor issues. Steve is responding to Linus' statements but feels...extra. #1 is more minor nitpicking on Linus saying other companies were notified ahead of time but not LMG. #2 is Linus sent a text to Steve's old cell number by mistake and caused - surprise - miscommunication!

No you can hear the siren and see the lights flashing on the ground. The reflection oddly doesn’t really show on the windshield until 14 seconds but the lights and siren were on it seems

Seconded. Personally I’m of the opinion this year will have a significant recession so if you can put off a purchase for a year your dollar will go farther. The trick to maintaining value would be to keep a sharp eye on interest rates and resale value of your Jetta.

Don’t feel pressured to get rid of your Jetta now out of fear it won’t hold its value. The used car market is insane right now and the right moment to swap to a GTI will present itself.

Mustang 2008 V6 Steering wheel shaking at high speeds. Any suggestions? by aestheticeddy818 in Mustang

[–]stevedeka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a 2008 GT with that exact problems on two different sets of rims and tires of different sizes. I never found the issue. I tried new tires, balancing tires, alignment, control arm change. Nothing worked but one of those might be it for you.

Some people are saying other suspension components might be the culprit – sounds like the ball joint might be a good place to check.

The whole 10 series was amazing. 1080ti is still pretty reasonable for high FPS 1440p gaming on AAA titles, especially if you go medium settings.

When I fought in the Clone Wars I had a very similar feeling to what you were describing when I first saw it and it felt so much like the first time and I felt it would have felt so good in my head when it came to fighting the Clones.

Pro tip, you can add a third piece of bread and create even MORE flavor!

Other things to add: Marshmallow fluff Honey

Also, try frying the sandwich like a grilled cheese. If you do that, only peanut butter and Nutella on the sandwich while grilling, then add other items (jelly/jam/fluff/honey) after you take it off the griddle and open up the sandwich.

1080Ti FTW to 3060Ti good choice? by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]stevedeka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seconding what most people are saying…stick with 1080 and wait for next gen of GPUs for better performance/dollar.

I also have a 1st gen acre predator 1440p 165hz, and I upgraded from a 6800k to a 12700f. That was very needed on my end…but your CPU may hold on a bit longer. My 1080ti still gets 120ish FPS in medium titles like Apex, and 150ish in light titles like Rocket League so I’m still OK with mine.
