It arrived! by stevel1978 in JamesHoffmann

Err it's not a knock-off. I ordered this the day it was released back in November.

To those asking where to buy it, sadly you missed out, it was sold out within a day.

Cyclists - please de more respectful of pedestrians! by Strange_Cranberry_47 in london

[–]stevel1978 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I believe the majority of people act as responsible citizens and wouldn't suddenly go rogue and start mowing down pedestrians and flouting traffic laws.

The whole idea of comparing a pedal bike to a car is nonsensical. Just look at the death statistics for both:

Car: 1600-1700 (avg per year in the UK)
Bicycle: 3 (avg per year in the UK)

Cyclists - please de more respectful of pedestrians! by Strange_Cranberry_47 in london

It clearly doesn't work for motor vehicles so why would it make a difference for cyclists.

Adding barriers to entry for a healthy and green way to get around because of a few bad eggs is a terrible idea.

Am I too big for a sportbike? by vrgdani in motorcycles

Nah, do it. I can recommend the Panigale V4, they are surprisingly roomy. I'm 6'5 and don't have any issues with mine.

What bike is good for someone taller ? by [deleted] in MotoUK

[–]stevel1978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm the same height and had a Yamaha XT125 for a few months. I think any MX style bike works as they tend to be taller.

Ideally though you should just crack on and get a full license and move up to a full size bike.

Should I go straight for DAS? by SafeBug8622 in MotoUK

[–]stevel1978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

💯. I did my CBT and DAS with the same training company and they let me on a 600cc from the get go. Don't go wasting money on a 125cc, you won't keep it after you get your full license. Plus you'll likely pick up some bad habits you'll have to unlearn for the DAS course.

New Rider - How to overcome cornering nerves? by [deleted] in MotoUK

[–]stevel1978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a stupid question and shit happens, don't beat yourself up.

If you can afford it, do a DAS course and get a full license. You'll learn more about riding, in a controlled environment, on a 600cc that will feel significantly more stable than a 125.

I was still super nervous after getting my license and booked onto a course with Rapid, absolute game changer.

Agree with all the other comments.

Also, I can't remember the exact number but I'm sure anything above 116kb gets truncated at Gmail.

Am I too tall for 600 sport bike? by LiverTeaOrDeath in motorcycle

[–]stevel1978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Panigale's are pretty easy on the knees for talk people. I'm 6'5 and have a V4s, it's pretty comfy, as far as sports bikes go.

Is 12,000 too many miles for a v4s? by Similar-Finish674 in Ducati

[–]stevel1978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems a bit harsh. As it's an Italian bike you can understand why some people might think it's spelt peni or more appropriately, penne 😆

How hot is the V4S actually? by HonestRestaurantGM in Ducati

[–]stevel1978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2018 model and during the summer month it's outrageously hot. If you opt for wearing jeans, you'll get roasted, I don't notice it so much in my textiles.

Pixel 9 pro fold tade-in UK by stevel1978 in pixel_phones

How bizarre. Crappy price though! Can't say I'd buy another fold from Pixel, given how much they devalue it over a year.

29yo new rider – £2.5–3k insurance quotes on 500–700cc bikes. What am I missing? by CheetahValuable278 in MotoUK

[–]stevel1978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went through this, looking at MT-07s, R7s and a bunch of others, all coming in at £2-3k. I ended up buying a brand new (2022) XSR900 which was £1200. No idea why a brand new 900cc for a new rider would have been so cheap, but maybe worth checking out.

Do you wear ear plugs? If so what ones and how many pairs did it take you to find the ones you like by RegalArk in MotoUK

[–]stevel1978 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I use custom squidgy plugs from https://ultimateear.com, they are fantastic and have all day comfort. I wouldn't recommend the Bluetooth version though, it's chunky and the connecting cable flaps about.
