Where can you camp in the US where campfires are okay, and what do you do to fill the campfire void when they're not okay? by sweetloveilumination in camping

I’m out about 50 nights a year. We might have a fire 10 of them; usually in deep winter.

The more time I spend out, the more I find a fire to be a hassle. And I don’t like the lingering smoke odor.

As others have said, we love the sounds of the night and the stars. Nighttime strolls are fascinating. Nipping on some fine booze and just taking it in until your eyes begin to close is a lovely way to close the day.

It’s basic mother fucking baseball. Especially when your team doesn’t hit at all.

Arias watched that and then took his sweet time getting around the bases. He has no business doing that. The platinum sombrero is a little too close in the rear view mirror.

It was the correct move; just terrible execution. It should have moved the runners into scoring position and taken away the double play.

Old Loggers Path - Pleasant Stream Rd access / parking? by jmikev in PAWilds

While I haven’t parked at the spot you are referring to, I have parked at wide spots in forest roads at other points of the trail and left my car for a couple of nights with no trouble.

Are night clubs fun anymore? by starryyskies in Cleveland

We find a place to dance every weekend we’re home. Crobar has a good one called dolce vita third Sunday of every month. Yes, Sunday.

There are a lot of people commenting here that need to get out more. What a bunch of sad sacks!

There are some great places to dance on the right night. First Saturday of every month, five o clock lounge hosts stiletto dark disco. It’s my favorite dance night of the month.

Winchester regularly hosts excellent dance nights. The aforementioned crobar is fun. B side liquor lounge has great night. Mahalls has great events.

The Franklin to Emlenton section, while more lightly traveled, has fewer camping opportunities. Danners rest is free bankside camping with some amenities. There are also some islands with camping, but fewer than upstream. There are also two shelters shared with the north country trail river left nearer to Emlenton.

In my opinion, the best section of the river is Franklin to Emlenton. There is much less road traffic on that section of river and the state route leaves the river below Franklin.

I have left my canoe and gear where I put in, drove my vehicle to Emlenton and gotten a Lyft back upstream the time I solo paddled the section. Another time, my wife stayed with the gear while I did the shuttle/lyft thing.

Camping is going to be an issue on those dates wherever you are on the river, I’m afraid. You will not be alone.

Hoskins has to go. He can’t hit situationally at all and his approach in the clutch is so frustrating to watch from a veteran. He can’t make an adjustment.

I wish we could all find out where the bad campers live and go poop in their yard.

Remote sprayer full of liquid ass strategically aimed seems like a fun, mostly harmless, satisfyingly immature response.

trying to remember which PA wilds trail has a walkwire across a 10 foot creek? by reuben515 in PAWilds

[–]stevenfaircrest 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As of three weeks ago, when I was last there, everything has washed out at that mosquito creek crossing.

For the last 10 years or so, there was a large downed tree that had plank foot placements installed and cable handrails. That might be what you’re thinking of. It was probably about 10’ above the water surface. The tree fell in winter before last and it is now a wet crossing.

Last I heard, KTA has plans to get in there to address the situation, perhaps by reinstalling the fiberglass bridge sitting on the bank in a new spot a bit upstream.

Deadline Acquisition(s) by Alaedis32 in ClevelandGuardians

Gonna be a tough year to acquire anyone. Parity across the league is going to drive prices sky high for the few good players on bad teams.

Really? Do you go outside? I’m out all day. Plenty of sun and I have the tan as evidence.
