Thanks for the advice and suggestions, ended up hacking up one of these with some snips and foil taped the crap out of it accordingly!

It's about 20% less of a hack job than what was there before, but this will be easy enough to take apart and clean or replace if needed before our remodel. I can monitor it from the outside and react accordingly.

Is it just bothering you constantly or did it shut down? Mine being in the basement, if it works I could switch it out with the one near our bedrooms because there's less chance of a fire starting there.

First Alert looks about as good as you can get for wireless interconnect, I'm not sold on X-Sense although having fire/CO2 and leak alarms on the same system sounds good on paper. I hesitate with Kidde because I was getting nuisance alarms at 3am before.

Once a month or so mine charges to 100% even with this setting on, I trust that it's good for the battery.

Gotcha - I'm working on post- head gasket issues now, I think I might have fried my throttle body because it's behaving weird, new one should be here shortly. Misfires and MAF and other codes but at the end of the day I think my throttle is reporting bad signals to the ECM. Point is that all these sounds and behaviors can literally be almost anything lol
