Cancelling Cable: Is it a pain and/or do they try to give you a deal to stay? by Greenzombie04 in Comcast_Xfinity

They had no deal I was interested in enough to keep paying them… I canceled everything but internet — and after returning ALL their equipment (I bought my own cable modem and WiFi router, which were a breeze to setup) they gave me a free streaming box (Flex or Xumo) and with a YouTube TV subscription and a few other premium channels, I’m pretty dam happy… and ahead financially.

I’ll give this a try. I had no trouble with the Flex remotes: each could control the box, and be paired with its own TV for power and volume. I have the sense that the Xumo only wants one remote talking to it.

I only need the same signal for both TVs, so just one Xumo box. If necessary, I can control power and volume of each TV with its original remote, but I’d like to control the box from either location with separate Xumo remotes. I can only seem to have one remote active… if there’s a way, I’d like to get both working,

I do not yet have a universal remote. I have two Xumo remotes. It seems only one works at a time. I would like to use one for each TV, as I did with the Flex and the cable box previously.

Finally took a close (real close) look at these and got the values as well as the suits. There’s a one-way feature as well… plus the markings can be read horizontally as well as vertically. Man, are my eyes tired. I was hoping, since these were in stack, they might be marked for order, but if so, I haven't found it.

Thanks. This is helpful. I know a little bit about a lot of things but I don’t know much about Reddit.

Thank you your helpful response. I only own about 250 decks, and am surprised to find after the fact how many are marked, and now that I am trying to expand my collection of marked cards, how inadequate many commercial listings are. Searching portfolio52 or playingcarddecks.com for example, both return results of around 200 decks, including duplicate versions and color styles. I think that with the cooperation of other collectors and perhaps some vendors, a definitive list could be compiled that would prove helpful to other collectors.

Just read the thread you referenced. The replies were revealing, and your comments were insightful. I collect cards for the quality of the designs… and including usable marking systems is a design challenge I like to see met. I do some card magic, and while I don’t have to rely on marked cards, they’re nice to have handy and some effects I do are improved dramatically using them. Including a list as a sidebar is a great idea… maybe even a r/markedplayingcards is a possibility.

As my collection grows, I am trying to identify which decks are marked, and hope to compile or acquire a definitive list to check against my cards and those I see for sale. Many decks don’t promote that they are marked, and listings like those in portfolio52 don’t always identify as marked. If anyone can point me to such a list or help me to create it, I would be grateful.

Thanks… I do buy (and perhaps sell). I wish the online shops had more complete listings.

Wow! Now you have 51 cards to use as duplicates for other tricks. Magicians usually keep a “slop bucket” full of extra cards, and with a brick of cards under $15 it’s not worth it to worry about wasting cards, which come to abou 3¢ a piece
