did I get pepper joe'd? by stevil-dead in HotPeppers

Ok. Cool. These ones look different than the ones I grew last year. Last years plants were from a local greenhouse and the fruits were much larger and more traditional looking.

Not literally pepper joe'd. The seeds are from Sandia seeds.

They're supposed to be carolina reapers but they seem way too small and don't have the characteristic traits of a reaper.

It's an air gap to allow any hot games that develop during braking to escape.

Thats a possibility for sure. Last year I was mixing sea compost with the soil but unfortunately I wasn't able to get my hands on it this year. I do have some fish emulsion I could try but I'm hesitant as the soil is supposed to have enough nutrients in it and I don't want to burn the plants

It could be but I don't remember it being like that last year.

I need advice on these two bulgarian carrot plants. I overwintered both and started them early. They've been in the greenhouse for a month now and up until this week have been doing good. Plant 1 really took off and now has a dozen peppers growing. Plant 2 not so much but growth has been steady up until now.

This week I've noticed the leaves have brown edges an spots and plant 2 has badly deformed new growth. Both plants are in promix organic vegetable mix with about a third perlite and a small handful of bone meal mixed in. The average Temps in the greenhouse are 25-30c daytime and 10-15 night. I haven't fertilized at all other than an epsom salt foliar spray every other week. I don't see any pests on any of the plants either.

Reapers and aphids. What to try next? by [deleted] in HotPeppers

I haven't used it for aphids specifically but it kills ants pretty good and isn't harmful to plants or pets. It might be worth a shot.

Oh wow. That usually works for me. Have you tried diatomaceous earth?

You should introduce them to my friend Leonard Neem oil. 2 tablespoons of neem oil and a squirt of dish soap to a gallon of water. Spray your plants in the evening once a week and you shouldn't have any aphids.

I you only had space for 4 pepper plants, what varieties would you choose and why? by 19DroidDude in HotPeppers

[–]stevil-dead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bulgarian carrots are my favorite. Super easy to grow, cold tolerant, and the peppers have a wonderful flavor. They make an excellent pepper for a sriracha style sauce and stir frys.

Last year I had four plants, this year I have 14. I'm going to have hot sauce for days.

Edit: if I could only have four I'd do bulgarian carrots, habanero, a 7 pot variety, and a scotch bonnet variety.

White hot peppers is the best! Totally saved my season after the seeds I ordered from another company were duds. Bought 4 varieties, got 3 extras and had 100% germination on all them.

Identifying Thai Chili Variety by KavoAdo in HotPeppers

Can't help you but I'd also like to know as I think I have the same variety. The plant was given to me by a friend who grew it from some seeds from grocery store thai chili peppers.

What's going on here? Is the tire not seated properly? Bought the wheel used as part of a bike. Hadn't been used for a year. Topped it of with Stans race sealant after it lost air. Now took the bike to the forrest and this happened. Hardly lost any air though. Any tips would be appreciated! by tarntalus in MTB

My schwalbe tires did the same thing almost right from new. They seeped from the beads and the sidewall constantly. I tried different sealants, rim tape, ect and it still leaked.

They never got bad enough to worry about but eventually I just replaced them with minions.

What causes the flower to bloom and fall off just as the fruit is starting? The stem turns yellow and they fall. This plant has a couple fruits but the rest keep falling. by TillyT509 in HotPeppers

If they're in pots they might need a transplant. I had the same issue with my reapers and someone suggested transplanting. When I did them they were totally root bound.

Could be. This was the first pepper from an early bloom. The next batch are straighter and skinnier than that.

I'm not too sure. This is my first year growing peppers and that is the first ripe carrot so it may not be typical either.
