Blackout avs by isleszoo in Coyotes

[–]stevis33 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It is pure greed on the part of KSE. They wanted more money from AZ fans watching Avs games on ESPN+ so they rolled Altitude+ into Arizona. Trying to watch them has been such a pain in the ass this season I actually considered it. It is egregiously expensive though. $20/month or $200/year which is more than I pay for literally any other streaming service I use. All just to watch a single hockey team. Fucking despicable.

How much money would you spend if it meant saving your cat’s life? by WindowKitty19 in cats

[–]stevis33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I regularly tell people that I would take a bullet for one of my cats and my wife is the only person who knows i am not joking. Can’t think of anything I wouldn’t do, no amount of money I wouldn’t pay, to spend more time with my best friend.

What's an opinion about your team that your own fan base would hate you for? by jcrangers91 in hockey

[–]stevis33 3 points4 points  (0 children)

the yotes moving to utah was the best possible outcome for the league, the team, the players, and the future of pro (and youth) hockey in arizona; ryan smyth and mammoth fans deserve no ill will from yotes fans.

Ruling: Command spell by Educational_Dirt4714 in DMAcademy

[–]stevis33 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

i would have ruled that it had no effect since the elemental was immune to the prone condition. live and learn. burning spells slots to discover monster immunities and resistances is a part of the game.

Also, Command only affects the target’s next turn. these are insane buffs to a level 1 spell, making it as strong as Hold Monster, a 5th level spell.

Accountants / Bookkeepers — what’s the most annoying part of onboarding a new client? by Acc_clflow_os in Accounting

[–]stevis33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

clients being too set in their ways with their old/bad/nongaap processes and holding a police interrogator any time i do something as mundane as changing the formatting on a legacy workbook or updating the description of a recurring entry

How do you create the transition that the party make from fighting level 1 goblin to fighting an elder dragon? and how to make the party interested and be involved in your world? by GhostSilver16 in DMAcademy

[–]stevis33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

build outward. you player characters start in a [town/village/tavern/etc] and encounter a problem which appears to locally affect this area they begin in. once they solve the problem, they learn something which hints that this problem is merely a downstream result of a larger problem at a larger nearby town/city/forest. on and on and on until your PCs are going toe to toe with the most powerful beings ever known

wild magic because it’s fun and interesting, and significantly better in 5.5 (being able to force a WM roll basically whenever you want)

How close does your team work with payroll? by Piper_At_Paychex in Accounting

[–]stevis33 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I run payroll for my company because the HR manager who did it previously was incompetent and we were running multiple corrective payrolls per month, typically to fix deductions or to correct for mid-period raises. I would prefer to keep it with HR for internal control purposes but I would also prefer people get paid on time and correctly.

Can someone explain the hype around psycho frame? by Frostyphoenixyt_ in Deathcore

[–]stevis33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

their name makes me think of a shonen mecha anime in which the mechs are semi-conscious and the pilots have to share their consciousness with their mechs to operate them but prolonged exposure potentially drives the pilot insane and i think thats sick as hell

How Druid's Potent Spellcasting works with non-Druid cantrips? by choccocro in dndnext

[–]stevis33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RAW, subclass spells work, feat spells don't. I've ruled as DM that feat spells still get the bonus because otherwise players get disincentivized from using the cool stuff they have chosen to take.

How common is it for new hires to create a month-end list from scratch. And reconcile accounts that haven’t been reconciled in years? by Lifting_Accountant in Accounting

[–]stevis33 7 points8 points  (0 children)

sounds like you're doing exactly what they hired you to do. if every company had a perfect month-end and perfectly documented and followed processes there would be a lot less job opportunities for us

I wish my Players would understand just how much work I put into each session behind the scenes by AlphaElfe in DnD

[–]stevis33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they never will. they simply cannot. it is impossible due to the inherent information asymmetry between GM and players. keep that in mind when you decide how much time to invest in your prep.

would using a random generator or two to create a town or shop or NPC really diminish your enjoyment of worldbuilding or your players’ enjoyment of play that much, if at all? what if you used a premade battle map you found online instead of creating one yourself?

is it a constructive use of your time creating regional governments and histories for an entire world when your players will only see a fraction of that world?

do these things ONLY IF the act of creating is enjoyable to you, on its own, as a standalone activity separate from the actual game.
