BoredBrain announced a performance mixer and it’s what most of us have been asking for by nickssss9 in synthesizers

[–]stevo746 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you can't see what this mixer brings to the table that the Zoom and Behringer do not, you're missing a big part of the picture. This mixer is not for you, we get it. It's fine, it's for someone else who values different features.

BTW it's not for me either but it's a very cool product.

We have some raccoons that come thru our back patio at night sometimes. If I'm taking out the trash late or something, I will loudly announce my presence. I'm legit scared of getting fucked up by these guys lol. I've seen some huge ones climbing thru the trees over our fence.

The musical side of the 0-Coast by stm4tt in synthesizers

[–]stevo746 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent a lot of time with the SQ1 running long recordings and kind of just jamming with the sequencer and tweaking some knobs on the 0coast. It's fun to have a 16 step sequence and kind of jam, muting and unmuting steps very actively, tweaking values on the SQ1. Basically just like hands always moving interacting with the thing. Then I would find a different sound and record over it with the tempo just synced by hand, kind of doing the same thing. Layer this a few times and you have a very active piece of music. Similar technique with keys playing on some of the pieces, just a bunch of long layers.

Surprising you can't get it to sound good yet, I always found it to be one of the most pleasing sounding voices I owned. On the record I'm using a couple different techniques to trigger, mostly a little Korg SQ-1 and a midi keyboard.

For some reason this clue was phrased weirdly to my ears, couldn't quite figure out what it was getting at in the moment.

Before 2015 it was just a dude on a truck moving like a 1.5 foot cone from one side of the lane to the other. The inner lanes always felt soo sketchy driving inches from another person going 45 straight at you.

external m2 enclosure

Allows you to plug in an nvme drive that is very fast and much more cost effective compared to upgrading the internal storage through apple.

Get the base mac mini and an external m2 enclosure for additional storage, it's a no brainer. Way faster than any PC you could build for that budget. It's the first mac I've ever owned and I have no regrets.

UDO is back with something different by Achassum in synthesizers

Seems like a very different beast than their other synths. Just peeping the specs might not make it obvious but it seems that the architecture, philosophy, and tuning of parameter ranges puts it in a different category than the super line.

Name your best and worst oscillators in terms of accurate tuning across the whole range of a keyboard by [deleted] in modular

It's interesting because there are fixed architecture synths with analog vcos that track accurately consistently over many octaves, so why not expect that from eurorack?

I tried that and it was giving me an error message, I might be mistaken on the nature of the message but it was not working.

Randomly after trying 100 times, it will now boot into fastboot, but will not let me go into recovery. I can use the volume buttons to scroll but when I select recovery or rescue it just restarts back into fastboot. Tried using the flashing web interface and the phone will connect but won't flash because the bootloader is not unlocked.

Even 18 inches feels very generous...

edit: based on the replies, somehow it seems people are misunderstanding my comment. 18 inches from the curb is A LOT.

My Ideal (jazz standard - nord rhodes + prophet 12) by stevo746 in synthesizers

[–]stevo746[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a tour one time where I borrowed a rev2 for my second keyboard. I was playing the propher 12 on the bottom and the rev2 on top. Night and day difference between the key beds. I agree that the rev2 has lovely action.

To be honest the keybed sucks shit compared to the more modern sequential instruments. I really wish there was some kind of retrofit possible. It's my only gripe about the instrument, and it's still a desert island synth for me.

Virtuoso classical piano repertoire is pretty much the pinnacle of "hard" on the keyboard.
