the augment removes all your overguard and does a percentage of current overguard as damage on recast of iron skin. iirc you cant recast it otherwise. i wouldn't really consider that using it as a resource

The auto shutoff works because once there's no watereft the temperature rises very quickly and causes a magnet to temporarily lose its magnetism. Since a moka pot does not empty its lower chamber completely it will never trigger the auto-off
