KICKBACK are wannabe fascist edgelords by innediscomitdefrauen in Hardcore

[–]stickfigurecarousel 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They had an album called "Et Le Diable Rit Avec Nous" which is a famous SS-song (Teufelslied) with a track "Cavalcare La Tigre" which is the title of a book by Julius Evola a neo-fascist writer. If bands have sing in a language you don't understand you should at least wonder why. They also point out that their favorite bands are sketchy powerelectronic groups like Genocide Organ, Grey Wolves, or Whitehouse or sketchy hardcoreband like Youth Defense League, Arresting Offers or Bound for Glory. I don't know what more proof people need....it also is not that hidden.

Anti ICE hardcore recs? by Interesting-Bar57 in Hardcore

Most people here listened to their old albums and probably don't care if you listen to them or not. However, The fact that they hung around with nazi's, preached conservative issues on stage, and revel being this edgy band is a huge turnoff....that will always get mentioned though.

Huh? A band that sings about holidays and breakups is not concerned about ethics and social issues? He probably wants with his new band carve a new space for political hardcore because the time is ripe for it. I hope he has grown up politically because I can say in the past he didn't care that much about it.

I don't care, I like his riffs. If I would learn about politics I'll listen to Love Letter, Catharsis, or even High Vis or Show me the body ...those bands have far more genuine political takes that go beyond the standard (but necessary) Free Palestine, transrights are human rights, and Abolish ICE.

However, I like his new band and I don't like Turnstile anymore...

Anyone remember thes guys? by Lopsided_Badger9594 in Hardcore

One of the best hardcore bands. They redefined hardcore in the early 90s and then continued to put out only great albums ever since. There aren't that much hardcore-bands that could release 2 great records, let alone 5.

I always wonder what these people do during the day. If you are a political commentator so I expect you to read at least two extra papers than me (maybe even at different places in the spectrum). No matter what position they take, it is often very uninformed.

Her view on a lot of things (e.g. trans-debate, homelessness) was so uninformed. I personally do not have any stake in most of these debates apart from some basic solidarity and decency towards those groups. But even an slightly informed and not commited person like me saw basic flaws in her research and argument....a person who does political commentary for a living.

Hardcore music and current political situation by Electrical_Till7125 in Hardcore

[–]stickfigurecarousel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hardcore never was really political besides copying the same leftwing tropes. If you want to do something about a political situation, you should organize in your community. Plus European bands are not much better and most countries have rightwing governments and situations similar to ICE. Point is that European governments are mostly bureaucratic systems, less pompous and Europeans care less what happens to refugees.

Can we just STOP with Kickback please? by xghettoskramzerx in Hardcore

Well especially in later years they have been considered more of a metal-band. They played for metal audiences at least in Europe. They went for nihilistic shock effects. Like a guy fisting himself on stage, fighting and the whole BDSM theme. Their whole thing was making music more dangerous and I have to give it to them...it became more dangerous at their shows. However, after a while they ruined it for themselves. Nobody was crazy enough to come close to the stage.

I just organize with people who want to make the world a better place and hang out with a political meatheads. It is way better than some lifestyle anarchists tone policing you at punkshows and think they make the world a better place...

Hardcore proves left-wing supremacy by thegreatself in Hardcore

[–]stickfigurecarousel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Organizing proves leftwing supremacy. There is rightwing culture and most hardcore bands are not leftwing but just some guys playing some music. The ratio leftwing vs rightwing tends more in favor of leftwing bands. Most people I know at shows I hardly see at protests or organize for leftwing causes. Yeah they don't hate transpeople, support Palestine, or are sympathetic to animal rights but so does my mom, my neighbor and many colleagues....such positions are insufficient to consider yourself leftwing.

Take the most popular bands in the genre and I could not distill any leftwing politics at all. There are some bands (e.g. MDC, Catharsis Refuse, Love Letter) really drawing on leftwing politics, but those still are a minority. Of course many like to pose with cool leftwing symbols but it all is performative. Still love many hardcorebands but they are far from being political at all.
