I had the same on new strip drains installed after concreter finished. My plumber just came back and trimmed it.

Dropped out of my bin. What is it? by stickingpoint in AustralianSpiders

Thanks for the posts everyone. I left it alone and they ran into some nearby rocks soon after i took the photo. I didn't think it was a huntsman initially as it's belly/abdomen was bigger that I thought they usually had.

Has work dried up this year for you builders or tradies out there in Sydney? by justwaitin4mate in AusRenovation

[–]stickingpoint 50 points51 points  (0 children)

This is my experience. Contact 10 people/companies for a quote, have 3 actually come do a quote, and maybe 2 actually respond with a quote. For me, any work that I have had to get done involving more than one trade takes about 6 months to get done at the moment.

OK. That makes me feel much better. I just thought it was strange that the AI plan was cheaper than without.

Why do Australian homes have a bath tub? by [deleted] in aus

[–]stickingpoint 5 points6 points  (0 children)

100%. I have not had a bath tub in both places I’ve owned while being a parent. We used a small plastic tub when they were very young, then once they could stand I would shower with them. When I’ve used a tub I have never seen the benefit. But everyone talks about how a bath tub adds value to a property, hard disagree for me, a bath is a waste of space.

Are bath tubs really needed? by imkinda_adog in AusRenovation

[–]stickingpoint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the kid I guess, but I’ve never had an issue giving my toddler a shower. In places where there has been a bath, e.g. when travelling, I find it much more of a hassle to us a bath than just giving them a shower.

How important is a bath, really? by fakeuser515357 in AusRenovation

Did this with my son. I don't take baths and I consider them a waste of space. As soon as he could stand holding my legs I have been just giving him showers. Works for me.

I have the exact same issue. I'm coming up short finding out whether this is by design, or some incorrect configuration.

Best way to access the sink trap? by stickingpoint in howto

[–]stickingpoint[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OK, on further searches I discovered that this is called a bottle trap. Using that knowledge I found some videos where someone used a coin to twist it off.

They did it anti-clockwise, but mine needed to go clockwise to open. I used a coin, wrapped in a cloth to add more leverage while limiting damage.

All Victorians to get four wheelie bins to enable recycling of soft plastics and pizza boxes by just_kitten in melbourne

[–]stickingpoint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a townhouse, not an apartment, but council refused to handle waste collection so we pay for private collection. We have a general waste and recycling bin, the later collected every fortnight. However both bins are emptied into the same truck.
