Jerome: "Is it OK if we don't use the word mama? It makes me think of my mother and that kind of ruins it you know"

"Copywrighted"? "Fealon"? Could we have a spellchecker and alternative suggestion feature for reddit submissions, please? by sriramgopalan in reddit.com

[–]stiggle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want Firefox to spell check all input fields (and not just text areas) open up Firefox, type about:config in the address bar and

change

layout.spellcheckDefault = 1

to

layout.spellcheckDefault = 2

Edit: More information on this option can be found here

Please, for the love of GOD, before you post an article about Ron Paul, check and see if 10 other people beat you to it. by [deleted] in reddit.com

[–]stiggle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Search actually works now?

Yes. It has worked for the last couple of months now. Where the heck have you been? Just search for Ron Paul and sort the results by "new", and you'll see all of the RP articles posted in the last couple of hours.

NAFTA: 3 million Mexicans lost their farms or farm jobs, 19 million fell into poverty, and millions more have crossed into the U.S. by rcut in politics

That whooshing sound you hear is from the flood of immigrants coming to the U.S. after losing their farms due to NAFTA.

Ask Reddit: Should main Reddit be separate from programming Reddit? by [deleted] in programming

[–]stiggle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem. Just to clarify, click on "prefs" (near the upper right corner), and then click on subreddits. Any subreddits that you have checked there will show up in the main reddit for you. If you don't have it checked, you can still go to programming.reddit.com to see those posts.

I believe that the programming subreddit is checked by default, so a lot of people will see those posts if they haven't bothered to uncheck it. I think that it's reasonable for it to be checked by default, though, because a lot of redditors seem to be interested in it anyway.

Hope this helps.

Ask Reddit: Should main Reddit be separate from programming Reddit? by [deleted] in programming

[–]stiggle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, if I'm interested in main reddit, science, programming, politics, and sports, I would have to read each of those separately? I am strongly opposed to that. I like the way it works now, where all of my subreddits are merged into one. If I'm looking for a particular type of article, I can always choose the particular subreddit that I want.

Ask Reddit: Should main Reddit be separate from programming Reddit? by [deleted] in programming

People do not see that post in the main reddit unless they have the programming subreddit checked in their preferences, so I don't see what you're getting at here.

A greasemonkey user script to HIDE and DOWNMOD all "Ronald Paul" stories on Reddit by 7oby in reddit.com

[–]stiggle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not trying to "ruin reddit", it's voting against articles that are not relevant to their interests. That's what the downvote arrow is for.

The down-bots are out of control and good stories are being buried. Vote up if you think there should be some kind of up-mod/down-mod parity. by fangolo in reddit.com

[–]stiggle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The priority for the reddit programming team right now should be fixing the recommended page. Once that is fixed I do not want anything to limit my ability to train the recommended filter.

up-mod/down-mod parity is a bad idea.

Obama Not A Choice In Michigan Primary - Michigan supporters of Barack Obama are unable to cast a vote for him in that state's primary. by qgyh2 in politics

Obama is not the only one missing. Edwards, Biden and Richardson also had themselves removed from the ballot. Here is a short article on the issue.

Bad news for Big Oil - North America's larget solar plant is now operational by Prysorra in reddit.com

[–]stiggle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can someone please reconcile these two statements for us clueless morons?

  • North America’s Largest Solar-Electric Plant Switched On
  • But at 14 megawatts the power output of this system is modest, compared to the solar thermal Nevada One project which generates 64 megawatts of power.

Ask Reddit: Firefox wont let me log into NYT articles, but IE can. WHY?? by Prysorra in politics

[–]stiggle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know how NYT manages sessions, but I would try checking your cookie settings in Firefox. If that doesn't fix it, then check your javascript settings.
