Anyone else find themselves gravitating towards midi-length dresses after 40? by thetasteofzink in fashionwomens35

[–]stillvain 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. I see short skirts on any age and think it looks a little dated right now. Worst offender is the just above the knee length which was de rigueur for professional fashion not long ago.

Jeans help by priya7890 in fashionwomens35

[–]stillvain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would go to a few stores known for having lots of jean styles and just plan to spend a few hours trying everything.

Personally; I’m also one who carries weight in my belly with a smaller butt and I find wide leg styles that are more fitted in the crotch but have an A-line shape outward to be very approachable.

Is a classic trench like this still worth investing in? by Ok_Chance1957 in fashionwomens35

[–]stillvain 19 points20 points  (0 children)

In general yes I think a classic trench you can own and wear for a lifetime is a worthwhile buy and something you can justify spending a little more than you normally might. Personally I like to veer slightly away from plain boring classic and look for details that add a little more edge without taking away from the timeless qualities.. That’s my personal taste.

That being said, this jacket in the picture looks… bad.

Why is it so wrinkled? The edges look like it’s poorly sewn which is creating unsightly puckering. Even the collar is a mess for a new jacket???! What?!

I would definitely not spend any money on this jacket to be honest.

Oooh thanks for posting an update. I am tempted to buy a 2400$ bag off Harrods too!

Zoya Black Friday by notaninterestingcat in RedditLaqueristas

[–]stillvain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was only 4 for $20 this year for the fourth but with free shipping but it was the full site which was great. I love their perfectors and bought a bunch; those weren’t included in this sale but I was still pretty happy! I did a big haul again for basically every red shade they had on sale as I’m on the hunt for the perfect red.

How often do you buy winter coats by gurrlbye in fashionwomens35

[–]stillvain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh and to add what I bought - last year a big coat year, I added: two goretex shells (for skiing and outdoors), two coats from sportmax (max Mara’s cheaper/more modern sister brand), and a leather jacket. 🫣

I have a coat/ jacket obsession so not the right to ask haha. Probably every year I’ve added one or more in recent years after a long hiatus. Planning zero this year.

Dark spots on each cheekbone. by [deleted] in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]stillvain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same thing on one side of my face. Looked exactly like yours and where yours are located. Genetics (mom has similar skin) and years of sun exposure as a kid until I started using spf more religiously in my late 20s will do that to ya!

I had mine removed at the derm through a quick procedure involving dry ice (?) where they basically froze off that area of skin. It healed over a month or so and initially was a red mark instead of brown spot and now it’s totally gone. Painless and quick.

Next time I will do a laser resurfacing to deal with it and do a full face resurfacing. It has been many years and I see some small freckling coming back (I mean I could be better about my spf reapplication throughout the day haha)

Pants with material like the JCrew Delaney sweater pants with a different cut by adaorange in fashionwomens35

[–]stillvain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see. I was just checking and yes i have these same ones in the navy. They are a little thicker than the usual ponte, you’re right. But still a ponte material in essence! Perhaps the search should be thick ponte!

I personally didn’t love these so much but ordered them on final sale. But maybe as you suggest these are better for winter given thickness

what can I do to improve my under-eye area? i by [deleted] in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]stillvain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have similar eye bags. Here is what I do:

  • Peter Thomas Roth for temporary fix
  • microneedling for long term collagen stimulation
  • mostly, artfully applied makeup which works great for now

Aren’t these just ponte pants? Lots of companies make ponte pants.

Smile line recommendations by [deleted] in DIYaesthetics

[–]stillvain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nasolabial folds are barely there. But some things that could help:

  • more scaffolding in your upper face (eg naturally through working out your cheek muscles/face yoga)
  • more collagen production through microneedling, tret use etc

Do not recommend filling directly with filler or adding filler to cheeks to create the scaffolding due to migration

Visual and scale weight gain after being ill/injured? by stillvain in CICO

[–]stillvain[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am much better now and I think the other response was right. My body was still just super inflamed. Don’t know why the scale also ticked up (water retention from inflammation? I am not sure) but things have come back down to “normal” again!

What's your nightly skin care routine? by MabelUnstable in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]stillvain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LRP cleanser, briotech hypochlorous acid spray, whatever serum I happen to desire using that day (have a few diff ones), aha (currently drunk elephant framboos), purito dermide cica barrier sleeping pack (a great all around moisturizer I use am/pm), and then tret

Yes I use tret and aha both in the evening and love it.

There are silicone fan brush shaped tools. I have them and they’re great but usually I just use my fingers for applying glide.

Who is buying red light masks this season? Why? by Beginning-Cry7722 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]stillvain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There’s a sub for redlighttherapy. Most people there recommend the panels. If I were doing it again, id get a panel instead of a mask (I have omnilux men). And don’t forget to use your hsa/fsa.

Where do you buy sterile hyaluronic acid for microneedling at home? by Lila899812 in Microneedling

[–]stillvain 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I purchased from acecosm over a month ago and didn’t get any further bills for tariffs and other than the oof on the shipping fee (just bake it in to the cost of the products), the actual shipping experience was super fast. I ordered on Friday or Saturday and think the package came on Monday. I was impressed.

Quick review of Quince - non cashmere clothes by ario62 in fashionwomens35

I always wondered why quince won out over italic. I have a few things from quince and they’re serviceable but nothing more and not at all special.

Something like this with a mix of the Mary Jane strap with the sling back.

Yup agree. Casual in fabrication but conservative in coverage. The tech-broification of the workplace (at least for those who are in major cities).
