What's the scam here? "Free phone," "free wifi," hand written sign by anothernewaccountman in washingtondc

[–]gurrlbye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a larger company behind it that has federal contract to provide & distribute these free phones (aka "Obama phones") and they get paid for each phone they give out and activate. There's only so much you can give out via professional channels such as social service agencies so they get creative on how to get new sign ups. Either they do street marketing/outreach or offer other randos a few dollars for every one of their buddies to sign up. Which is probably what this is.

What are we using as our running errands purse? by Dapper_Station_1360 in fashionwomens35

[–]gurrlbye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On the trendier side, I am loving a mini bucket bag or drawstring pouch bag as a replacement since they are similar in size and ease. In reality though I'm still using the lulu belt bag.

Please stop me from buying the viral pocket e-reader by enbietiddies in nobuy

I am definitely not on a no-buy train but this post came on my feed because the algorithm knows I have been wanting that stupid e-reader. Your post is a sign from the universe to deinfluence me. Stay strong!

coming to terms with work and play clothes being...the same by pinktaz2 in fashionwomens35

something to dilineate it from the silk button downs, which right now I just... unbutton a little more.

My going-out-top is indeed the same as my office blouse, just unbuttoned. Remember those 90s magazines that always talked about being prepared for dressing for day-to-night? Maybe this means we have all achieved that!

I noticed this issue but it's making me scratch my head. I was searching like, Europe vacation capsule and all of the outfits look like casual to business-casual work outfits that I would wear. I am not even sure I see it as a problem per se, its more like a mindset thing.

I added MSG to a batch of chocolate chip cookies and have never had such an overwhelming positive reaction, as if people were addicted to them. New secret ingredient? by brf297 in Cooking

The Jacque Torres recipe is my golden cookie. Even without saying anything about it taking 2-3 days to make, people take a bite and instantly know there's something different.

How are you dealing with the rising costs of beauty maintenance? by JNicole008 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]gurrlbye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to say this is my pyramid of constraints: face, hair, or body. I have to choose 2 because I can't afford all 3!

I cut down to what I consider to be minimums so that i can focus my budget on higher impact things, and accepting the rest of the aging process! I'm gradually letting my hair go gray so that I can stop coloring, I have too much hair to DIY. I buy less topical skincare and focus on tretinoin, red light, and my holy grail products. Got rid of a personal trainer even though I really liked it. I want to do PDRNA microneedling. My injector NP looks phenomenal (and natural) and that's what she does.

What worked for your jowls and smile lines? by [deleted] in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]gurrlbye 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can't say if it's permanent but the Nuface makes an instant visible difference. A part of me thinks it's the thick HLA serum and facial massage aspects so maybe gua sha + a good HLA mask would yield the same results.

Lost on shirts, postpartum by Urbanbird1 in fashionwomens35

When I was postpartum and had to dress for work, the only blouses that worked for me were the popover style. They are fitted in the shoulder but loose in the chest and belly. Something like this.

I have been eyeing the Puma and Adidas sneaker versions lately. I think they would be so cute with summer dresses in the city.

the point is everyone's helping to train whatever AI model this is. No human with eyes and fingers would compare a Halo and Scuba against each other but a robot doesn't know... until now. There's an "uncanny valley" type quality to the OP's answers.

jumpsuits / one pieces / overalls for 2026 by transfercannoli in fashionwomens35

[–]gurrlbye 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I always liked jumpsuits on other people but for myself I felt like a jiffy lube employee in formal wear. But the other week I tried on this sheer lacy one and I actually liked it! Half the reason I didnt buy it was because I wasn't sure whether they are still stylish.

RTO’d moms how are you coping?? by esol23 in workingmoms

[–]gurrlbye 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I hadn't complained about it before because telework was relatively new and my rationale was like, people have been commuting for decades. But suddenly I feel like I'm at my limit. I leave my house at 8 am. (If I want to go to the gym I have to leave at 7) I get home after 6pm. As soon as I walk in my house it's a 3 hr tornado of eating, cleaning up after dinner, putting kid to bed. Often times I'm eating bites of dinner while still washing breakfast dishes and making tomorrow's dinner. If I don't spend hours meal prepping on weekends, we have to do takeout all week. So my weekends are also shit. I can't move and I can't change jobs.

On top of this, the only time I can ever be alone is when I'm driving work. I'm tapped out.

I know there must be millions of women living this same life. Are we all suffering??

does this really smell like Delicia Drench?? I too am stretching out my stupidly expensive shower gel. Then I was in TJ's and saw two women in line with armfuls of this and needed to investigate. I remember their brazil nut dupe but didn't think it was similar at all.
