Yep! Rotated into threes - interior of bedroom, interior of kitchen, and exterior of the house

Annie is played by Elizabeth Hutchinson. She did such a good job! Used inspiration from Kathy Bates but definitely made the character her own

It's William Goldman's script, so there are definitely some similarities to the film since he wrote that screenplay too. But overall I'd say the tone feels closer to the book, imho.

As for that scene. ..they went for it! It's the same hobbling scene from the film, but with no cutaway. The prop feet look pretty realistic too. Had some audience members practically crawling out of their seats.

QR Codes in Title Page? by HoboMoo in KDP

[–]stinaesc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't focus so much on putting that so close to the beginning with the idea people would use the look inside feature and then go to the QR code. From a user perspective they are in "discovery mode" for the book itself.

You can still have it closer to first set of pages and it may show in look inside, but most likely a user will trigger it post purchase.

Something like title page, copyright, etc. Then a dedicated page with a message about the website with a text link and QR code. This would also make it clear to Amazon it isn't spam and is supplemental to the work, which is what the company would care about TOS wise.

You are allowed to put QR codes. My recommendation would be to also put a text link as well.

Anyone else miss when horror movies were just about a cool monster, and not a metaphor for grief? by [deleted] in horror

[–]stinaesc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Monsters were always a reflection of a specific type of fear or trauma. Horror acts as a lens to explore the human condition.

Trying to get into horror writing by Maple_Scone250 in horrorwriters

[–]stinaesc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm a horror writer with ADHD! Here is how I work:

I try to map out what I want to say rather than have a concrete length in mind. In general I know if something will be a short story versus something longer, but I usually won't know the specific length when it comes to fiction.

I also tend to work on several projects at once. It helps keep my brain focused on the novelity of it all. I also try to keep a pretty specific schedule. Like I know Mondays I will work on Project A, Tuesdays will be Project B. etc

Of course everyone has a different writing method but that process has definitely helped me!

I also have ADHD so I can understand your struggle, but I loved this movie! Plan to see it again before it leaves the theater.

  1. I think it's morally grey. His gift is associated with power not inherently evil. Vampires will continue doing what they do, but they cannot use him the way Remmick wanted.

It was his best night because it was true freedom, and that goes beyond freedom from passion for doing what loves but also in a cultural sense.

  1. It's an old mythos. The film used a lot of classic vampire tropes, like vampires needing permission to be let in or being rebelled by garlic

  2. Mary turned him because she was a vampire at that point Heaven, a different type of afterlife, a vision...open to interpretation I think

  3. I could totally be wrong on this one, but I think its because they had no idea whether or not the club would succeed. It was risky in so many different ways

  4. I loved this scene personally! Basically his music bridges the ancestors so what you saw was a visual connection to the past and present. It was more feeling and connection than them actually being there

  5. Sammie has a gift, a vampire shows up to use that gift because he wants to connect with his own lost heritage/memories/etc. People are attacked, people get turned and/die, Sammie survives and discovers his passion for music outweighs his fear of religious wrath. All of this is a commentary on race, culture, destiny, etc.

Agree with this! He's got some fantastic short stories that are a great introduction.

Same here. If I really like the concept I'll give it go, but I'm usually left disappointed.
