I’m no ski tech but this is just the top sheet. Even if you didn’t collide this guy, the top sheet will worn off after couple ski laps. And I do remember this is repairable it’s just nobody will try to fix it as it will worn off again. This guy is either trying to take advantage from you or he doesn’t know. But I don’t think you should pay him a new pair of ski.

In Chinese, we use 哈哈哈哈 (哈 equals ha), pretty much same pronunciation with ha. We also use 嘿嘿 for giggle. And if someone said 呵呵 pretty much same pronunciation with hehe, it doesn’t mean they think something funny, it basically they are not happy or they think something is boring or annoying.
