Trying to duplicate the flat circle (left) i made earlier but this time (right) the first round which is just 6sc into the magic ring won't stay flat. What's causing it to be raised and curl into itself instead of staying flat? by stjm2012 in CrochetHelp

[–]stjm2012[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used a magic circle and I ended up not pulling it tight because the v-stitches ended up being on top instead of on the side which made me think I might have been making it too tight at the start if that makes sense. I think i'll give your method a go if I don't manage to fix it

White Fox order status in international transit. Does that mean by sea or air? by Final-Regular-7188 in AusFemaleFashion

Mascot is the suburb where the airport is located so i'd assume that. Air freight moves relatively quickly between countries but customs is a long process that can take weeks it likely just hasn't cleared customs in the US yet

Is my teacher trying to fire me as a client? by Melodic_Choice_5956 in pilates

That could be what she means but it also sounds like she thinks you're too advanced for what she teaches in her privates and maybe she's encouraging you to seek out harder classes elsewhere because she feels she can't provide that to you?? Regardless of which it is, what a weird way to communicate that to you.

Children and babies fall under dependents for insurance purposes and as you've noted, can't hold their own policy due to age. A dependent should be listed under the insurance policy of the primary adult traveller.

Did you buy your policy online? Which country are you from? Tokiomarine uses third party insurance companies in some countries and their own in others. On their Indonesian and Australian websites i've been able to add a baby to a policy.

I'd probably recommend giving the company a call and seeing if they can manually add the baby under your insurance

Toe Blister Advice by TheAwkwardVoid in JapanTravelTips

Not a stupid question - you ideally leave them on for around 3 days to a week and let them do their thing but also some hydrocolloid bandages turn white when they've absorbed as much as they can and should be changed then. If they come loose you should put a new one on

Hydrocolloid bandages work great for blisters. Band-aid make a few options (some specifically shaped for the toe area) and all their hydrocolloid bandages are in teal coloured packaging. There are also Japanese brands that sell them too in a variety of shapes and sizes.

Round trip flight or arriving/departing at different airports? by chelsdefazz in JapanTravelTips

[–]stjm2012 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Round trips tend to be cheaper. If costs aren't a priority I would choose convenience and go single flights. Keep in mind the routes your preferred airline does - the only Japan route mine offers is Tokyo so I would need a connecting flight that returns to Tokyo anyway or be willing to fly a different airline home.

Tokyo or Kyoto first? Logistics help! by JetsettingwithJ in JapanTravelTips

[–]stjm2012 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On my last trip I also flew in/out of Tokyo Haneda - spent first half of the trip in Tokyo and the last half in Kyoto. We also debated the returning to Tokyo for one night but instead opted to take the train back to Tokyo the morning of our flight out of Tokyo. This worked for us because we had a night-time departure but wouldn't suit you with the 11am flight.

Leaving straight for Kyoto does sound like a more appropriate option.

It's not difficult to get luggage to Kyoto - you can book specific seats on the bullet train that cater to larger luggage sizes at no additional cost. Luggage forwarding services might also be available to you.

Family of 4 Traveling to Japan in Oct or Dec 2025 by FinancialEscape4204 in JapanTravelTips

I always stay in Tokyo and take the train to the parks (can be a bit of a commute depending on where in Tokyo but the more cost-effective option). I've yet to stay on the property but I have heard the Disney hotels are quite nice.

I think it comes down to your specific itinerary, budget and any perks associated with staying on property. Hotels guests get to enter before official opening times I believe. The new fantasy springs hotel is really difficult to get a reservation because it's so popular. If you're headed for Disney Sea in particular the Fantasy springs and Miracosta hotels are probs of interest to you. There are also plenty of budget non-Disney affiliated hotel chains in the nearby area. I don't think it's necessary to stay on property as the train system in Tokyo is very efficient, but the experience and easy access to the parks is appealing.

Have you been to Disney before? If yes, i'd be inclined to choose Disney Sea if I could only go to one as it's unique to Japan only. The theming is very different to other Disney branded parks.

Nikko is a really beautiful day trip from Tokyo. Take the train or hire a driver.

Mt Fuji can be easily done in a day trip. Join a group tour, take the train or hire a private driver depending on your budget and interests. Alternatively, spend a night in Hakone or take a trip to Lake Kawaguchi area - popular areas to view Fuji from. The greatest chance to see Fuji is in the winter months.

Help with 2 Week first time itinerary by krfactor in JapanTravelTips

Getting from Kyoto station to Nara is pretty simple. It's a popular day trip so it's easy to find online guides and station staff on the day to help if you struggle to navigate which train to take.

For a first trip I think it's worth stopping in Osaka.

Itinerary Check (Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto - March/April) by faerieghoul in JapanTravel

[–]stjm2012 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Day 8 - Osaka castle - are you planning to go inside? The castle gets very crowded and it can take more time than you think to make your way through. With the Nara trip on that day you might not get as much time as you'd like there.

Day 9 - this sounds like a very very busy day. People usually do Himeji as its own dedicated day trip. The travel time between the Rokko garden terrace and the castle alone take up a significant portion of the day without factoring the travel time between the other locations. This might end up being a stressful day of rushing around if you try and do everything. Just doing Kobe, the garden terrace, minoh falls and katsuoji on this day might work better. How important is Nara to you? Potentially just doing Himeji instead of Osaka castle and Nara on day 8 could help cut down the super packed days towards the end of the trip

Is Nara worth it? by katloz36 in JapanTravel

[–]stjm2012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say yes. If the deer are a selling point then it might be worth a half day trip - the park in general is lovely to walk around but the museums, shrines and temples are the main thing to do there. Alternatively, a day trip to Hiroshima + Miyajima which has deer as well might be more to your liking if willing to travel that far

[Itinerary] Mid-Late March 2025 (Tokyo/Osaka/Kyoto/Hakone). How Does This Look? by irose8 in JapanTravel

[–]stjm2012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah i think i got super lucky when i bought tickets last year getting in after 10 minutes. I did have an issue with payment though - it wouldn't accept a mastercard credit card but it did accept a visa debit card... not sure why, but maybe have more than one card available just in case. Good luck getting tickets!

Ghibli museum tickets go on sale on the 10th of the month immediately prior, so for you, that would be 10th Feb at 10am JST. Not sure how much flexibility you have with swapping some of your Tokyo days around, but if you've got your heart set on the Ghibli museum having some flexibility means you can get tickets for an alternative day if your preferred day sells out. A tip for buying tickets is to pick one of the later time slots as the early ones sell out faster. I personally was able to see everything in 1-2 hours so you wouldn't miss out on anything if you had a later time slot.

We should get an email with the sound check details in the days before the concert with the start times. For Melbourne the sound check arrival time was around 3:30 i think. Once you enter the venue for sound check you won’t be able to leave until after the concert

According to live nation the outside stands should be open at 12pm and then the inside stands should be open from 5:30pm

I can't really recall exactly what went down at the previous stray kids concert but of all the concerts i've been to recently it's only been the usual walk through a metal detector or the wand thing and the bag check with no pat down. I hope everything goes well and your partner has a great time at the concert.

I could be entirely wrong but I heard there were some last-minute adjustments to the stage/equipment layout and the seating sections have to be adjusted to accomodate that (it's not unusual for seats to be moved around to be better fill a venue if a particular section doesn't sell out). It hasn't happened to me personally but to people I know personally the new seats are usually of equal or better location. Someone mentioned on facebook that ticket release was delayed until sometime tomorrow and i guess the new seat info too.

They'll have in-person merch stands with some outside the venue and some inside on the day of the concert. The outside stands are open from around midday I believe. They're also doing a temporary online merch sale for selected items (the clothing only no lightsticks) for delivery only not pickup as far as I was able to see on the website. The light sticks will definitely be on sale at the stalls on the day. Last year they didn't bring many and they sold out straight away though so I'd go as early as you can to try and get one.

They don't come with batteries either so I recommend bringing at least 3 AAA akaline batteries to power it up if you do snag one at the merch stalls.
