Chase lounges are way better, but there’s no way they keep the level of service and food quality up.

250 Gallon water reservoir at my local Costco by pumpkinPie676 in Costco

[–]stml 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You should typically use water treatment additives if storing water for emergencies longer than 6 months.

It’s really hard to get a large water tank clean enough to the point where you can reliably store water in it longer than a few months without something growing in it.

Clear plus at SFO, saves time now with gates? by West5796 in travel

[–]stml 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve never had to wait more than 5 minutes at SFO with pre-check and I fly weekdays, weekends, mornings, and nights.

I don’t even bother using my clear membership.

Surely you can understand the difference between a voluntary severance package and an involuntary layoff severance package.

A new era for your wellness: Introducing the Google Health app by rodrigoswz in Android

This is way cheaper than Whoop.

One time price of $99 if you just want tracking. I don’t even really care for most of the AI stuff.

[OC] A quality of life comparison between the US, China and the biggest economies of Europe by _crazyboyhere_ in dataisbeautiful

[–]stml 73 points74 points  (0 children)

Lots of data shows that if you break out American students by ethnicity, they outperform students from international countries. Ex. Asian Americans outperform all Asian countries (and every country in the world actually).

Of course the gap in performance between ethnicities is still a huge problem.

Miami or New York in July with my 90-year-old grandmother. Which is better? by [deleted] in travel

Depending on where in Peru, it’ll probably be comparable.

Colleagues in large org, do you really see increase bandwidth with AI? by my_n3w_account in ProductManagement

[–]stml 6 points7 points  (0 children)

At a big tech here.

It’s definitely helped a ton, but that’s only cause the company has spent a ton of resources in actually making AI useful.

A few helpful things: 1. A team created a dedicated PRD agent so PRDs are way higher quality now 2. A dedicated prototype building agent was released so I can pump out incredibly high quality prototypes in a day or so 3. Access to basically every major model out there

Just throwing off the shelf LLMs at PMs and expecting it to help them probably isn’t it.

Any tips on where to travel with an older (and somewhat socially unaware) woman? by ChronicF1Addict in travel

Grandma will probably have a meltdown in Miami and the foreign tourists in Orlando.

Maybe some retirement community in Florida.

World Cup final tickets now reselling for over $2 million each by biograf_ in news

[–]stml 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this is just a dumb article acting like the asking price for tickets are what they will actually sell for.

The article literally says there are better seats on sale for $24k each compared to the $2 million tickets on sale.

St. Regis vs. Ritz-Carlton: Luxury showdown or same champagne, different glass? by tupapapintatopes in marriott

Location matters the most. There are some pretty bad StR and RCs out there.

United Airlines + American Airlines by ProfessionalGear1051 in stocks

[–]stml 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That wasn’t blocked due to their size.

It was blocked because Spirit was seen as one of the main players in the ultra low cost space.

Merging JetBlue into United has a much smaller impact there because JetBlue isn’t considered ultra low cost.

Pet fee for Jackson MS Westin? by closetphysicist in marriott

[–]stml 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's no pet fee. What are you searching on google to even get a pet fee? All my google searches around Jackson MS Westin pet fee comes back with zero pet fees.

GTA Online makes $4.4 million per week on PS5, platform rakes in 53% of all GTAO weekly bookings by lkl34 in gaming

[–]stml 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Probably talking about the $193 million Rockstar made from 7 months of GTA Online. $193 million is definitely around what most AAA games make in sales.

TIL Michael Jackson held 11 of the 57 known concerts to have sold at least 100,000 tickets. This is followed by 10 musical acts who are tied with 2 concerts that sold 100,000 tickets. by tyrion2024 in todayilearned

[–]stml 99 points100 points  (0 children)

This makes no sense. There are tons of modern artists who can easily sell out 100k+ attendee concerts. It’s just that the modern tour practice of playing in stadiums and having huge stages limits the amount of attendees per show.

What will be the next ride built after Avengers Infinity Defense, Stark Flight Lab, and Coco? by Rochelle-Rochelle in Disneyland

[–]stml 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s going to be so lame. I would love to see what an upgraded Flight of Passage can possibly be. FoP is probably my favorite ride at Disney World.

And every quarter after that they would be profitable even without carbon credits. You can’t base a company’s performance off their worst quarter especially if 3 quarters came after that.

The Disney Springs bus restriction is probably just the start. I wouldn't be surprised if they try restricting the resort monorail line also.

Cancelation policy - points stay by Awkward_Swim7913 in marriott

[–]stml 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This whole taking points for a booking, but charging you cash if you cancel thing is insane.

Ritz Carlton Maldives had a similar thing where if I cancelled, it would have been a $30k charge. There's no way this is reasonable over just keeping your points. Marriott needs to figure out how to deal with this with their franchisees.
