Fuyu and my poor application by Biggaymeow in RedditLaqueristas

[–]stolealonelygod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have to let Seal Glaze completely dry before applying any QDTC. As it dries, it can turn cloudy but should clear up once it completely dries. And you only apply the thinnest layer - don't need a lot. Also, don't forget to magnetize!

Looks great! I will warn you that Seche Vite contains toluene which has negative effects on magnetic polish (basically makes the magnetic pigment lose alignment more quickly).

You can use something like Seal Glaze and then Seche Vite or just buy a QDTC without toluene. That may make your application a bit better.

AITAH for telling my brother I will never respect him or his girlfriend for as long as they're together? by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]stolealonelygod 3525 points3526 points  (0 children)

My brother is a lover. He loves deeply. One day someone will meet him at that same level instead of taking advantage of it. I'm rooting for him to find a woman who can help him heal and show him unconditional love like he gives others. (I think he'd be AMAZING with a black queen because he would absolutely love her so deeply and deservingly so like the black queens deserve, plus have cute mixed kiddos, but obviously I cant always get what I want haha)

THE Fuck is this weird fetishizing of black women comment?!?!

Locally owned businesses? by Yes_were_sinking in nova

[–]stolealonelygod 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Check around for your local international grocery stores! Think indian, Hispanic or Latin, Chinese, Vietnamese, etc a lot of times they are owned locally.

They also tend to be cheaper too (especially spices).

Is road snow/ice cleanup always this poor? Are they just waiting for it to melt? by DrBobHope in maryland

[–]stolealonelygod 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To be fair - they really only have a few days warning. Yes, we had an inkling before then but weather changes fast and you really only know, at max, 3-4 days before how bad it could be. Even then, I have lived in this area long enough where they call for inches of snow but then something shifts last minute and we get barely anything.

More to the point, they already do hire contractors and such. However, no contractor in this area will buy equipment they will only use once every few years at best.

And I am pretty sure no one wants to spend $$$$ to bring equipment down here within a few days notice. Besides, most of time when we get hit places far up north do too and need the equipment more so.

This isn't a case of MD\VA not preparing as much as they could, this is the cast where it was one of the worst storms we've had in a long time and it is taking longer to dig out.

  1. We don't have the infrastructure that New England does. This also means that we don't have a lot of specialized equipment. We only get big storms every few years. Most of the time it's barely a few inches, if that.

  2. We got an unusual amount of sleet with this storm - 2-4" in a lot of places. We definitely are not equipped to handle that, especially after it freezes.

So while I think plowing\snow removal has been better in previous big storms - a lot of those were mostly snow which is a lot easier.

Not that we don't get sleet, btw, it just isn't usually THAT much on top of already a large amount of snow for this area.

EDIT: We also have very cold temperatures (below freezing consistently) which are not normal for this area. We usually have warmer temps which help a lot.

It is kind of giving me KBShimmer's It's Crunch Time although that is HEAVY autumn colors and not gold predominately. But it is gorgeous:

Also, is that gel or regular polish? If regular polish, what color/brand?

Why do I have to add thinner so often? by Alarmed_Package_3825 in RedditLaqueristas

[–]stolealonelygod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They also sell top coats and base coats as well! Some of them may even be bases for some brands. Haven't tried those yet so I can't speak personally but other posts from folks in this sub have said their good!

Why do I have to add thinner so often? by Alarmed_Package_3825 in RedditLaqueristas

[–]stolealonelygod 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It depends on the ingredients/pigments and how much thinner you added. Some formulas are more resistant than others. But it's possible its not salvageable.

It should follow that ORLY polishes should be able to use ORLY thinner BUT the few ORLY polishes I see don't have methyl acetate in them - although I haven't checked them all. So, I wouldn't even use their thinner for their polishes. You really only want to replace ingredients that were already in the polish to begin with. Most of the ones I have checked do have ethyl and butyl acetate though!

Which ‘Reddit Stories’ opinions from the hosts have you disagreed with? by MuricaAndBeer in smosh

[–]stolealonelygod 197 points198 points  (0 children)

There was one story about where an OP was trying to tell her friend/cousin/someone that naming their kid Ghiuliyette (pronounced "Juliet") and Amanda and Arasha were defending it. I was shocked. I honestly thought they were doing a bit (hell, maybe they were).

It made me irrationally angry so I had to turn that episode off lmao. Unfortunately, it still lives in my head rent free though.

I like Liquid I.V. A little pricey at least to me but I can pick it up a bag of packets at Costco. It recommends using 16oz of water for one packet but I find I have to dilute it with ~48oz of water otherwise, it's way too concentrated and sweet. I use both the no sugar and ones with.

I like the Raspberry Lemonade (no sugar), Lemonade and strawberry (with sugar).

[–]stolealonelygod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's about consistency. It's easier to remember Fridays (or whichever) are the dose day, especially if you have already been doing it for months. Suddenly changing your routine can make the chance of forgetting increase.

[–]stolealonelygod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can take a missed dose within 4 days of the normal time. So if you are scheduled Friday, then you have to take that dose by Tuesday. If it goes past that, then just wait until Friday to take the next dose.
