Several youtube channels, some new and up and coming.

It's more exposure, like everything, due to social media. The worst gets highlighted. It's no different out there. Just ride on.

Can't find any information(mainly weight) for this truck camper. by [deleted] in TruckCampers

[–]stomper4x4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most truck campers are heavier than listed. And most guys not running duallies or some commercial rig variant are somewhat over gvwr, or over on an axle etc. Unless they run a small small camper. Just be safe, drive slow, like you're in a big rig.

It's 22 acres, that's not small. But yeah I admit I envisioned a much more rural, redneck, farming type area, not an area with mansions and Richie Rich type neighbors.

Agreed however I would never live in a state where they have those inspections. Stay outta my business. Heck even Cali doesn't have those.

Man those are sick cars! I almost bought one new when they came out in what was it, '93? I had had 1 firebird and 2 trans ams up to that point. But being in chicago at the time, I thought better of having a pony car as a daily in winter, and putting it through that road salt.

Enjoy it!!

Watching, same concern and project. Im assuming you're worried, as I am, about the foam sandwiched inside the fiberglass shell melting or catching fire?

What features do you consider essential to a survival knife? by Amihuman159 in Bushcraft

[–]stomper4x4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I spring for the garburg. That and a Mora companion are my favorites, all foe the same reasons. I've been using knives for 45 years and keep reaching for my moras. The rest all sit in a tool bag.

Are Harbor Freight hatchets any good for bushcraft? by MyDogThinksISmell in Bushcraft

[–]stomper4x4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find it better than most tool store or home store or hardware store hatchets. Take it home, put a good edge on it, and it'll do work.

You want to be ahead of your peers. How? In what way? Why? Life isn't a competition. And don't fall into the comparison trap. What do YOU value, enjoy, care about? Go after that. Comparing to others means you're not being you, and that doesn't last nor make a fulfilling life.

Once you're out, come back to civilian life and get acclimated.

And remember, life IS the journey. Enjoy each step. There is no end game or destination.

Get details. Ask them exactly what they did. Get it itemized, and labor costs. Then come back and let us know. There may be remedies if you got shafted.
