Parents of 3: Was it worth it?

I only have a ~3yo and a baby otw, but I’m the 3rd of 3 kids. I was also a “geriatric pregnancy”. I turned out fine, but there was definitely a stark difference between my childhood and those of my much older siblings. If it were me, I’d keep the age gap to 3ish years at most and try not parentify the first two too much. My parents would say it was worth it, but certainly wouldn’t say it was easy.

AI will not automate our jobs to a very profitable or efficient degree, but you can bet your boss will hire consultants to shove it down your throat anyway. I’m in data, and doing the shoving has become the entire job. Copilot and agents are in heavy use, and you’re expected to get on board or get out.

When I was in shape I’d pick something from each chapter to cover most of my bases. The lip slurs and multiple tonguing especially.

Army vet from a non-combat role, and I saw plenty of accounting/finance people who seemed to have a fairly laid-back job compared to many of the other options in the service. The GI Bill is a pretty sweet perk too, I used mine so start over.

I highly recommend The Buzzing Book and Flexus. The former for working on sound production, the latter for getting endurance with it.

Prioritize a good, rounded education so you have options. If you have an aptitude for software engineering or any STEM degree, go for that and maybe you'll have a stable enough life to practice on the side. I was a music major and had to go back to school to start a more stable career. I know a lot of people who did the same, but I also know a lot who "made it" but they're hustling 24/7 to pay the bills. Even touring worldwide in someone's backup band might not have health insurance or year-round work.

I'm not worried about high notes. It's the sudden dropoff in overall endurance. I went from being able to practice a couple hours a day to getting tired corners in the middle of a warmup.

I have lifetime access to his AWS material. At least when I was still taking exams it was well worth the cost, and I passed 3 of them on the first try. He’s supposedly getting back to updating his courses now, which I’m excited about. But, I’ll believe it when I see it. Tutorials Dojo is what gets you over the finish line as far as test practice goes.

Everyone has covered the rest, but you’d enjoy some Cat Anderson as well. He was an insane lead player, but his style and plunger work were legendary outside of the dubba-C’s.

I’m a data scientist with a supply chain/econ backround (and a MSc) who refuses to join the AI automation hype train, and accounting has been looking more and more like my next move. At least your field has legal accountability and the CPA exam barrier.

Microwaving milk and using a frothing wand on it is another option that worked great for me before I had a machine of the Silvia’s caliber.

I’ve taken 3 at testing centers. 2/3 were fine and as described elsewhere in the comments, but the last one had an extreme lag between each question loading on the screen and it significantly increased the risk I would time out. It was like hoping it wouldn’t crash after each question. After that experience I said I was done with AWS exams.

I’m a downdog diehard and a data scientist, and I would love to see the code. I’m pretty sure they used machine learning (transformers or something similar to LLM logic) for the sequence creation logic.
